CHANDIGARH, 01.11.25-The National Institute of Nursing Education (NINE), PGIMER, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Department of General Surgery, PGIMER, organized a Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign at Ayushman Arogya Mandir, Dadu Majra Colony, Chandigarh.

Dr. Divya Dahiya, Dr. Sukhpal Kaur,Dr. Sushma Saini, Dr. Budhi S. Yadav, Dr. Veenu, and Dr. Ishita presided over the function. The objective of the campaign was to raise awareness about the early detection and prevention of breast cancer among women in the community.

During the program, Dr. Sushma Saini demonstrated self-breast examination techniques, emphasizing the importance of regular self-checks for early detection. A nukkad natak (street play) on breast cancer awareness was performed by nursing students, delivering a strong message on screening and early diagnosis in an engaging and relatable manner. To support women’s health, free mammography screening(mobile van) was arranged for women above 40 years of age. Exhibition was conducted on healthy diets, hand hygiene, physical activity and breast cancer awareness.

The event was successfully organized and coordinated by Dr. Manju Dandapani, Dr. Bheem Singh, Dr. Meenakshi, Dr. Maninder, Dr. Manisha, Dr. Damanpreet, and Mrs. Shabana, Dr. Mala Chandra with active participation from faculty, students, and community members. The campaign highlighted the vital role of education, awareness, and preventive health check-ups in combating breast cancer.
