Chandigarh, October 17, 2025:The Chief Secretary of the Union Territory of Chandigarh, Shri H. Rajesh Prasad, IAS, chaired a comprehensive review meeting of the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) today. The meeting focused on enhancing innovation, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring greater accountability within the organization.
A detailed presentation was made on the sanctioned strength of staff, recovery of outstanding pending dues and other working of CHB.
Emphasizing the pivotal role of CHB in providing housing to the residents of Chandigarh, the Chief Secretary directed the Board to formulate a comprehensive plan outlining its contribution to the city's overall development. He also stressed the need to introduce innovative housing schemes that align with the city's growth and urban planning objectives.
In view of the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0, the Chief Secretary instructed CHB conduct more public awareness campaigns to ensure smooth execution and active citizen participation, in coordination with banks.
Furthering the Chandigarh Administration’s vision of transforming the city into a Model Solar City, the Chief Secretary directed the CHB to initiate the installation of solar panels on the rooftops of CHB flats. This initiative is to be carried out in close coordination with CREST (Chandigarh Renewable Energy and Science & Technology Promotion Society).
The meeting was attended by Shri Diprava Lakra, IAS, Finance Secretary, UT Chandigarh; Shri Pardeep Kumar, IAS, CEO, CHB; and other senior officials of the Chandigarh Housing Board.
