MAHENDERGARH, 06.10.25-The Department of Nutritional Biology, Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendragarh, launched a ten-day GIAN (Global Initiative of Academic Networks) course on “Food Security, Nutrition, and Innovations.” The programme was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Tankeshwar Kumar in the presence of foreign expert Dr. Antonio Raposo from Lusófona University, Lisbon, Portugal.
In his address, Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar highlighted the importance of linking food security and nutrition with public welfare and described the initiative as a key step toward global academic collaboration. Prof. Dinesh Kumar Gupta, Dean, School of Interdisciplinary and Applied Sciences, stated that the GIAN programme aims to strengthen research and teaching quality by connecting Indian institutions with international experts.
The foreign expert Dr. Antonio expressed his gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, stating that it was an important opportunity for him. He added that the programme would cover various aspects of the theme, and all participants would gain insights into global developments through interactive discussions.
Prof. Neelam Sangwan, Dean Research, emphasized the course’s relevance for enhancing awareness at the grassroots level. Course Coordinator Dr. Tejpal Dhewa informed that 59 participants from various institutions are attending the ten-day course, which includes 26 lectures and 10 practical sessions. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Umesh Kumar, Head, Department of Nutritional Biology. Faculty members from different departments attended the inaugural session.
