CHANDIGARH, 14.08.25-In a statement, Kamaljit Singh Panchhi, President of the Property Federation Chandigarh, has humbly requested Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, to present the people of Chandigarh with an Independence Day gift by announcing—during his address at the Parade Ground, Sector 17, on 15th August 2025—the reopening of share-wise property registrations, at least for sectors starting from Sector 31 onwards. Such a decision would provide immediate relief to thousands of affected property owners and would be welcomed as a truly people-friendly initiative.
This request is based on a recent statement made in Parliament by the Hon’ble Cabinet Minister of Culture and Tourism, who clarified that Chandigarh is not a heritage city and that only Sectors 1 to 30 are classified as heritage areas—not the entire city. This important clarification clearly indicates that the current city-wide restrictions on share-wise registrations are unnecessary and unjustified. Panchhi expressed that the members of the Property Federation Chandigarh remain hopeful that the Hon’ble Administrator will kindly consider their humble request.
