Ludhiana 14 August 2025-The Directorate of Extension Education of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organized an Interactive Seminar for Horse Breeders of Punjab. Dr. Ravinder Singh Grewal, Director of Extension Education informed that the University is organizing regular seminars for horse breeders under the guidance of Dr. Jatinder Paul Singh Gill, Vice-Chancellor in an effort to organize the breeding of horses in a scientific manner which will contribute significantly to farmers’ income as well as the economy of Punjab.

These seminars feature expert lectures and interaction among breeders and researchers, he added. Dr. Grewal also released ‘Horse Health Card’ prepared by the team of Dr. Prabhjinder Singh Maan, Dr. Arunbeer Singh, Dr. Prateek Jindal and Dr. Vishal Mahajan. He informed the gathering that the Health Card is a unique initiative by the university which will help the breeders to maintain vaccination record for 20 horses along with guidelines on important indicators of horse health including Body Condition Score and Physiological parameters.

Dr. Ramesh Kumar Dedar, Principal Scientist, ICAR- National Research Centre for Equines (Bikaner) attended the seminar as a special guest. Dr. Dedar talked about advances in health and nutritional management of horses. He emphasized that nutrition planning and vaccination is key to optimum health of horses. He enlightened the audience regarding important body parameters for assessment of the health of horses. Dr. Amit Sharma gave a detailed presentation on Nutritional management of horses.
