Chandigarh, September 24, 2026:The Governor of Punjab and Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, today visited Government Girls Model Senior Secondary School (GGMSSS), Sector 20-B, and reviewed the facilities and activities being provided to students. The visit focused on skill-based education, vocational training, environmental awareness, health and wellness, digital learning and girls’ empowerment.

The Administrator was accompanied by Education Secretary, U.T. Chandigarh, Ms. Prerna Puri, and Director School Education, Shri Nitish Singla.

During the visit, the Administrator reviewed the school’s ongoing initiatives and future development. He appreciated the practical and hands-on learning being provided to students and stressed the need to further strengthen such learning opportunities alongside regular academic education. He encouraged the school to continue expanding skill-based and experiential learning so that students can gain useful skills and apply their classroom knowledge in practical situations.

Shri Kataria also visited the Cluster-Level Mid-Day Meal Kitchen and the school’s Skill-Based Learning and Vocational Laboratories, including the Beauty & Wellness, Fashion Studies, Textile, IT and Yoga Labs. He reviewed the facilities and noted the opportunities being provided to students to learn practical skills through hands-on activities.

Earlier, the Administrator visited the school’s Herbal Nursery and Rose Eco-Club Garden, where he planted Chandan (sandalwood) saplings. He appreciated the school’s initiatives to promote environmental awareness, vocational skills, health and wellness, values and opportunities for girls’ empowerment.

During his interaction with the teaching staff, Shri Kataria discussed the school’s educational initiatives and stressed the importance of creating a supportive and value-based learning environment for students. He also emphasised the need to maintain a strong connect with the school’s alumni.

Also present during the visit were Principal, GGMSSS Sector 20-B, Mrs. Ruchi Grover, teachers and other supporting staff of the school.
