Chandigarh, 24 September 2026:Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, witnessed an engaging culmination of its week-long Poshan Maah celebrations (18–24 September) along with the celebration of the 57th NSS Day, bringing together health awareness, youth participation, creativity and social responsibility.

The NSS Units of MCM DAV College for Women, in collaboration with the Department of Home Science and under the aegis of Project Manaswi, organised a Healthy Cake Baking Competition as part of the Poshan Maah celebrations. More than 25 students participated enthusiastically and showcased their creativity by preparing healthy and nutritious cake varieties. The activity highlighted the importance of mindful eating, balanced nutrition and healthy food choices, while providing students with an opportunity for practical learning.

The concluding programme also marked the celebration of the 57th NSS Day, with active participation from the NSS Units of the college. The programme was graced by Mr. Vinay Kumar, District Youth Officer, MY Bharat Chandigarh; Mr. Sachin Singla, Assistant Public Relations Officer, UT Chandigarh; and Ms. Diksha Uppal, Member, Advisory Board, Sukh Foundation.

A short film prepared by the college students on the theme of Nasha Mukt Bharat was also shown during the event . A key highlight of the programme was an orientation session on the ‘GEMS of India’ competition, an initiative of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. The session was led by Mr. Amarpreet Singh and Ms. Avrinder Kaur from Prasar Bharati, who familiarised students with the competition, its objectives and the opportunities associated with participation.

The students were also apprised of the GEMS of India programme being available on WAVES OTT, the digital platform of Prasar Bharati. The orientation encouraged young participants to explore the platform and actively engage with the initiative, providing them with an opportunity to showcase their knowledge, talent and participation in a national-level youth-oriented programme.

The initiative reflects the collaborative efforts of Chandigarh Administration, MY Bharat Chandigarh, Doordarshan and Prasar Bharati to connect young people with meaningful national programmes and digital opportunities.
