MAHENDERGARH, 07.10.25-The 28th Orientation and Sensitization Programme focused on the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 commenced at the Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendragarh on Monday. The programme aims to provide participants with guidance on themes such as holistic and multidiscipli-nary education, Indian knowledge systems, academic leadership, research, skill development, stu-dent diversity, and the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The inaugural session was graced by Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of CUH, as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Gurcharan Das as the Guest of Honour.
Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar highlighted the significance of the National Education Policy-2020, call-ing it a historic step towards reshaping India’s education system. He emphasized that the role of teachers today extends beyond mere knowledge dissemination — they must prepare students who can apply their learning in practical settings and contribute effectively to the workforce upon gradu-ation.
Dr. Gurcharan Das, Guest of Honour described NEP-2020 as a transformative initiative aimed at developing citizens capable of making India a “Developed and Self-Reliant Nation” by 2047. Stressing the importance of holistic student development in the age of technology, he urged educa-tors to embrace next-generation learners with modern tools and technologies to effectively address their curiosities and learning needs. Prof. Sanjiv Kumar delivered the technical lecture on the Na-tional Curricalar Framework and the associated changes in the credit systems and associated entry and exit options for the incoming students.
Earlier, Prof. Pramod Kumar, Director, and Prof. Tanu Gupta, Deputy Director, of the Madan Mo-han Malaviya Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), CUH, formally welcomed the distinguished guests, speakers, and participants from various higher education institutions across the country. They also outlined the objectives and background of the programme, noting that participants who suc-cessfully complete attendance, feedback, and assessments will receive an online certificate. The pro-gramme is being coordinated by Dr. Jaswant Kumar from the Central University of Haryana and Dr. Vijay Goel from MM College, Fatehabad. More than 100 participants from Haryana and several other Indian states are taking part in this edition.
