CHANDIGARH, 04.10.25-The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, under the PM-Usha Scheme, organized an invited lecture on “Challenges in New Age Journalism.” The insightful session was delivered by Ms. Khushboo Sandhu, Editor, BBC News Punjabi, who engaged students in a thought-provoking discussion on the changing landscape of new media.
Ms. Sandhu highlighted how digital platforms have transformed the way news is consumed, bringing with them issues of misinformation and the urgent need for authenticity and verification. She emphasized the crucial role of credibility and fact-checking in journalism today, noting that Gen Z’s interaction with news has reshaped the space for debate and dialogue.
She stressed that ethical journalism must stand strong in the face of challenges such as biased reporting and the spread of false information. The session concluded with an interactive discussion, where students reflected on the significance of innovation, integrity and the responsibility of journalists in safeguarding truth.
