The Haryana government has launched numerous schemes such as Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, Women’s Safety and Atmanirbhar Nari aimed at empowering women.
Governor Prof Ashim Kumar Ghosh said that he was fortunate to have the opportunity to share his views on the crucial topic of women’s empowerment and healthy families. For centuries, our society has respected the role of women in building families, society and the nation. However, the times demand that we not limit this respect to mere words but translate it into reality, he said.
Praising the Haryana State Child Welfare Council, Governor Prof Asim Kumar Ghosh said that the Council has been doing exemplary work for the holistic development of children since 1971. The Council benefits approximately 125,000 children, youth and young women annually through Bal Bhavans, Laghu Bal Bhavans, Bal Grihas and various programmes such as adoption, special adoption, coaching classes, de-addiction centres, and open shelter homes.
He said that as the Chairman of the Haryana State Child Welfare Council, it is a matter of pride for him that the Council has provided a new life and family to a total of 704 children through adoption. Of these, 528 children have been adopted within the country and 176 children abroad. This work reflects the Council's sensitivity and dedication to society.
