CHANDIGARH,22.05.2025-Today i.e., 22.05.2025, Hon'ble Governor of the Punjab-cum-Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria flagged off 26 PCR vehicles at Chandigarh Police Headquarters, Sector-9, UT Chandigarh. Sh. Raj Kumar Singh, Director General of Police, U.T., Chandigarh, Ms. Kanwardeep Kaur, IPS, SSP, UT Chandigarh, Sh. Sumer Partap Singh, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police (Security and Traffic), Ms. Geetanjali Khandewal, IPS, SP/City, Sh. Manjit Sheoran, IPS, SP/Hqrs Sh. Jasbir Singh, SP/Crime and other police officials were also present on this occasion.

The Hon'ble Governor has conducted a crime meeting with the Station House Officers (SHOs) and Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) to review the police station-wise performance and functioning. During the meeting, the Hon'ble Governor emphasized the need for regular crime meetings at each police station, efficient patrolling by crime vehicles, thorough searches of criminal-dominated areas, and robust surveillance of known criminals. He also stressed on introducing a monthly ranking system for police stations and directed the force to work diligently towards increasing the conviction rate, thereby ensuring effective and result-oriented policing.

In a significant boost to the city's policing infrastructure, the initiative aims to enhance the operational efficiency and response times of the PCR units, further ensuring the safety and security of the citizens.

The Governor's gesture underscores the commitment to modernize and strengthen the police force, enabling them to effectively serve and protect the community.

A Case FIR No.59 U/S 318(4), 61(2) BNS & 24 Immigration Act has been registered in Police Station Sector-17 Chandigarh on the complaint of Jaswinder Singh R/o # Jammu Kashmir against Gurwinder Singh owner of SCO No 1130 Top floor Sector 22/D Chandigarh, Anmol Sandhu, and others, they cheated with complainant Rs. 39 Lakh regarding Visa. Investigation of this case is in progress.

A Case FIR No.70 U/S 406, 420 IPC has been registered in Police Station Sector-34 Chandigarh on the complaint of Baljit Singh R/o # Village Fatehgarh District Ludhiana Punjab against Rajan Kanwar R/o # 8909, new Sawraj Nagar City Heart, Kharar Mohali Punjab Prop. Of R.R Travels SCO No 22 Sector 33 Chandigarh who cheated with complainant Rs. 17 lakh to provide visa of Canada. Investigation of this case is in progress.

NDPS Act

A Case FIR No. 28 U/S 22 NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Sector- 49 Chandigarh on the complaint of Tara Chand welfare officer Modern Jail Sector 51 Chandigarh against Amritpal Singh R/o Village Amershah wala , District Ferozepur Punjab on 21.05.2025 he was produced at Hon’ble Court Mohali Punjab by Chandigarh Police, when accused come back to jail during the intensive search by warden Sikander Singh prohibited articles (loose tablets) were found from his possession. Investigation of this case is in progress.

Voluntarily causing hurt

A Case FIR No.60 U/S 190, 191(2), 191(3), 115(2), 118, 126, 351(2) BNS has been registered in Police Station Sector-17 Chandigarh on the complaint of Ishan Singh Dhillon R/o Village Parch, District Mohali Punjab age 27 years against Rajay Gandhi, Aditya @ Gautam, Rajat and others who Stabbed complainant’s friend namely Gantavya Dev near # 2469, Sector-23/C Chandigarh on 21-05-2025. Victim sustained injuries got admitted to PGI Chandigarh. Investigation of this case is in progress.
