CHANDIGARH, 05.05.25-The National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh, successfully concluded a five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “Pedagogical Capacity Enhancement of School Teachers in STEM”, held from 28 April – 02 May, 2025 at its Sector 26 campus. The programme brought together over 100 school teachers from across Chandigarh and surrounding regions from both government and private schools including the PM SHRI schools, aiming to strengthen their pedagogical skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
The FDP was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) B. R. Gurjar, Director of NITTTR Chandigarh, who in his opening address emphasized the pivotal role of teachers in nurturing scientific curiosity and fostering innovation in young minds. “This initiative reflects NITTTR’s steadfast commitment to empowering educators and aligning school education with the demands of the 21st century,” he said.
Prof. D. P. Aggarwal, Former Chairperson of the UPSC and Chief Guest of the inaugural session, addressed the gathering and highlighted the need for skilled and motivated educators in achieving the national vision of a Developed India by 2047. He lauded NITTTR's efforts in offering structured capacity-building platforms for school teachers. Over the five days, participants engaged in a series of interactive sessions, hands-on activities, and demonstrations of digital tools for STEM teaching. Topics such as inquiry-based learning, low-cost teaching aids, integration of technology, and NEP 2020 alignment were covered.
The event not only reinforced the importance of teacher training in transforming STEM education, but also showcased NITTTR Chandigarh’s leadership in promoting academic excellence and innovation in school education.
