Chandigarh, 16th Feb, 2026: Phoenix - The ICT Club, Department of Computer Science and Applications (DCSA), GGDSD College Chandigarh has successfully organized a Innovative Presentation Contest, centering on the intersection of two of the most critical fields in modern technology “Artificial Intelligence and Green Computing” on 16th Feb, 2026 under the directions of Dr. Monika Sethi, coordinator, Phoenix Club.
The event brought together many teams from the department's most promising students, each tasked with exploring how the power of AI can be harnessed without compromising environmental sustainability. As the tech industry faces increasing scrutiny over the carbon footprint of large-scale data centres, the contestants provided fresh perspectives on "sustainable intelligence" and energy-efficient algorithmic design.
The participants were evaluated by a panel of faculty members Dr. Himani Mittal and Dr. Garima Srivastava. on their technical depth, visual design, and ability to communicate complex concepts to a broad audience. Topics ranged from EcoWeb- Carbon Intelligence for Internet to the development of Ethical and Green AI.
After a series of high-energy presentations and rigorous Q&A sessions, the judges recognized the outstanding contribution. The winner of the first prize was Japneet kaur with “Edge AI”, Beauty Kumari with “Affective Computing” as second and finally, Dikshu Grover, third with “Eco Web – Carbon Intelligence for the Internet”. Winners have received the cash prizes for their exemplary performances. Dr. Ajay Sharma, Principal, GGDSD College Chandigarh awarded the winners, encouraged them and applauded their efforts.
The event concluded with a motivating address from the Dr. Rina, Head of Department (HOD), who emphasized that the responsibility of the next generation of developers goes beyond mere code. She stated that In an era where AI is transforming every facet of our lives, we cannot ignore the physical cost to our planet; one should pursue to Green Tech as a standard, not an elective. Students are the architects of a sustainable digital future. The Department of Computer Science and Applications is dedicated to fostering academic excellence and innovation. By hosting regular competitions and workshops, the department aims to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-world technological challenges.
