Jalandhar, 27.08.25-; The spirit of space exploration came alive at Lovely Professional University (LPU) as it joined hands with the Space Applications Centre (SAC), ISRO, Ahmedabad, to celebrate National Space Day 2025. The event held under the theme “Aryabhatta to Gaganyaan – Ancient Wisdom to Infinite Possibilities,” the celebration honored India’s astronomical legacy while inspiring students to envision their contribution to the nation’s growing space ambitions.

Col. Dr. Rashmi Mittal, Pro-Chancellor of LPU and Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice-Chancellor of LPU, welcomed the Chief Guest, Mr. Ashank Desai, Founder & Chairman of Mastek Ltd. and Co-founder of NASSCOM, along with Guest of Honour Mr. Jai G. Singla, Scientist/Engineer at ISRO’s Space Applications Centre, Bengaluru.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Ashank Desai spoke on entrepreneurship and innovation in the tech era. He explained how India’s fast-evolving space sector offers boundless opportunities for startups and innovators.

Mr. Jai G. Singla put emphasis on the role of AI and remote sensing in space research. Drawing examples from Chandrayaan-2, he explained how deep learning, GIS, and 3D visualization are revolutionizing mission-critical tasks.

Col. Dr. Rashmi Mittal encouraged students to view themselves not merely as learners but as pioneers of India’s space aspirations, urging them to make the nation proud, just as LPU alumna Jhanavi Dangeti has, with her selection as an astronaut candidate for the prestigious Titans Space Mission 2029. Dr. Mittal reminded the gathering that India’s scientific future will be shaped by the imagination, determination, and rigor of today’s young minds.
