Chandigarh, August 14:-The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today organized a vibrant and inspiring event under the banner of 'Har Ghar Tiranga, Har Ghar Swachhata' at Sector 15, promoting the dual spirit of patriotism and cleanliness ahead of Independence Day.

Smt. Harpreet Kaur Babla, Mayor of Chandigarh, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. She was joined by Sh. Sumeet Sihag, Joint Commissioner, Sh. Saurabh Joshi, Area Councillor, senior MCC officials, safaimitras, office bearers of Resident Welfare Associations, and distinguished citizens. The event also saw enthusiastic participation from school students supported by NGOs—Don Bosco Society and Onkar Charitable Foundation.

In recognition of their active involvement in the ‘Safai Apnao, Bimaari Bhagao’ campaign conducted over the past 10 days, the Mayor presented appreciation certificates to the participating students. Their commendable efforts included plogging drives across city parks and green belts.

A captivating nukkad natak performed by the students emphasized the importance of cleanliness, which was followed by a spirited rally echoing the message of Har Ghar Tiranga, Har Ghar Swachhata throughout Sector 15.

Addressing the gathering, the Mayor urged residents to take ownership of cleanliness, beginning from their homes, and emphasized waste segregation at source. She applauded the zeal of the youth and their meaningful contribution to making Chandigarh cleaner and greener. She also highlighted the significance of hoisting the national flag with pride in every home.

Area Councillor Sh. Saurabh Joshi extended gratitude to all attendees and reiterated the city’s collective commitment to maintaining Chandigarh’s top rankings in cleanliness.

The programme was organized as a zero-waste event, reinforcing MCC’s commitment to sustainability.
