Chandigarh, July 22:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today carried out a comprehensive anti-encroachment drive in Sector 22, targeting illegal vendors and unauthorized extensions by licensed vendors. The operation was conducted at the vendor market and mobile market areas, where vendors found subletting or encroaching beyond their allotted space were removed on the spot.
A total of 53 challans were issued during the drive. Illegal vendors occupying public space were removed to restore pedestrian movement and ensure public safety.
The drive was supervised by Joint Commissioner Sh. Sumeet Sihag, with active inspection by the Enforcement Inspectors of the Municipal Corporation. The initiative was part of the ongoing campaign to maintain urban order and ensure equitable use of public spaces.
The Municipal Corporation appeals to all vendors to adhere strictly to licensing norms and avoid encroachment, failing which strict action shall continue.
