SHIMLA -20th May, 2025-Gokul Butail, Principal Advisor (Digital Technology, Innovation and Governance) to the Chief Minister, inaugurated a one-day workshop on "Leadership Empowerment through Artificial Intelligence" organized by the Department of Digital Technology and Governance here today.

Speaking on the occasion, Gokul Butail said that the objective of the workshop was to empower leadership capabilities through technological innovation, especially Artificial Intelligence (AI). He said that AI has the potential to greatly aid in data analysis, accelerate decision-making processes and automate routine tasks. He said that AI-driven analytics enables the extraction of meaningful insights from large datasets and makes the leadership decisions more rational and precise.

He said that administrative officers can improve governance and uplift public service delivery through commitment to AI and innovation. Regular use of AI in daily tasks would simplify work processes and enhance efficiency.

He highlighted the future importance of digital technologies and said that under the able leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the State Government was moving steadily making Himachal a digital hub. He said that various departmental services were being made digitally accessible with a strong focus on extensive use of information technology in governance. The state government was also integrating digital technology across sectors and has introduced AI courses in educational institutions to prepare youth for future challenges and opportunities.

He said that these innovative efforts by the state government in the field of modern digital technology would certainly help securing a position of Himachal on the global map.

Secretary, Digital Technology and Governance, Rakhil Kahlon welcomed the Chief Guest and briefed the gathering about the objectives of the workshop.

Director, Digital Technology and Governance, Dr. Nipun Jindal proposed the vote of thanks and stated that the workshop is an important step towards making digital governance in Himachal Pradesh more responsive, effective, and transparent.

Various experts spoke on various aspects of AI in governance demonstrated the use of AI tools in daily administration, data analysis through AI, strategies for AI adoption, risk mitigation in AI systems, and the importance of cyber hygiene.

Secretaries, Heads of Departments and other senior officials from various departments also participated in the workshop.
