Press Statement issued by Ayush Minister and Deputy Chief Whip issued from Shimla on 7th , May, 2025

AYUSH, Youth Services and Sports Minister Yadvinder Goma along with deputy Chief whip Kewal Singh Pathania, today welcomed the State Government’s decision to shift certain government offices from Shimla district to Kangra district. They thanked Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for taking this important step.

They said that the State Cabinet has approved the relocation of the Wildlife Wing of the Forest Department from Shimla to the CPD KFW Project Office building in Dharamshala, Kangra. Apart from this, the headquarters of the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) would also be moved from Shimla to Dharamshala. These relocations would help ease congestion in Shimla and support balanced development in Kangra district.

They further said that these decisions reflect the commitment of Chief Minister towards inclusive growth and equitable progress across Himachal Pradesh. Under his visionary leadership, the State Government has launched several key initiatives to promote the overall development of Kangra district, which is being developed as the tourism capital of the state.

They further shared that the Durgesh Aranya Wildlife Sanctuary was being established in Bankhandi, Kangra. The Chief Minister recently laid the foundation stone for a modern milk processing plant at Dhagwar, to be built at a cost of Rs. 225 crore. This plant would double the processing capacity from 1.5 lakh liters to 3 lakh liters per day. To boost adventure tourism, water sports such as motor boating, jet skiing and cruises were being introduced at the Pong Dam reservoir. Apart from this the work on expanding the Kangra Airport was also in progress.

They said that these initiatives would increase tourist influx in the area. It would also generate employment and self-employment opportunities for the youth besides strengthen the local economy of the region.

They said that it was always during the congress regimes in the State, that important offices have been shifted to district Kangra, including the Education Board which was shifted way back by previous congress government. Even the Vidhan Sabha was held in Kangra during the congress regimes, they said.
