PUNJAB GOVERNOR ADMINISTERS OATH TO PPSC CHAIRMAN IN PRESENCE OF CM BHAGWANT SINGH MANN

Chandigarh, May 7:Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Wednesday administered the oath of office to the newly appointed Chairman Major General (Retired) Vinayak Saini in the presence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.

Chief Secretary KAP Sinha conducted the proceedings of the swearing-in-ceremony at the Punjab Raj Bhawan here.

Congratulating new PPSC Chief, Bhagwant Singh Mann assured fulsome support and cooperation to PPSC for selection of deserving candidates on various posts in a transparent manner.

Commissioned in the Corps of Engineers in December 1987, Major General (Retired) Saini belongs to Hoshiarpur and lives in Mohali. He retired from the Indian Army in October last year.

Cabinet Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian, Principal Secretary to Governor VP Singh, Principal Secretary to CM Ravi Bhagat and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

CM MOURNS DEATH OF SCHOOL STUDENTS IN A ROAD MISHAP IN PATIALA

Chandigarh, May 7:Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday expressed deep shock and anguish over death of five school students and a driver in a tragic road accident on Samana-Patiala road.

Expressing profound grief and sorrow over this disastrous accident, the Chief Minister shared his heartfelt sympathies with the members of the bereaved families and prayed to the Almighty to give them courage to bear this irreparable loss in the hour of crisis and grant peace to the departed souls. He said that eight children who have also suffered injuries are undergoing treatment in various hospitals of the city. Meanwhile, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that he was in had already in touch with the district administration and has directed them to ensure best medical facilities to all the injured.

CM condoles death of four in attack at Gurdwara Sahib in Poonch Sector

Chandigarh, May 7:Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh on Wednesday condoled death of four persons including one raagi singh during bombardment from Pakistan in a Gurdwara sahib at Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir near LOC.

Expressing grief over the unfortunate incident, the Chief Minister said that raagi singh Bhai Amrik Singh, Amarjit Singh, Ranjit Singh and Ruby Kaur lost their precious lives during ghastly act of bombardment by Pakistan at the sacred place where prayers are held for well being of all. Condemning the attack, he said that it is unfortunate that innocent people are being made target by Pakistan during these type of barbaric acts. Conveying condolences to the family of the victims in this hour of crisis, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it was really a painful moment for all those who have lost their beloved ones in this unfortunate and tragic incident.

Sharing condolences with the members of the bereaved family, the Chief Minister prayed to the Almighty to give enormous strength to them to bear this huge and irreparable loss in this hour of grief and grant eternal peace to the departed souls.
