Jalandhar;30.06.25- A colourful parade of academic gowns and heartfelt farewells marked the Annual Congregation Ceremony at Lovely Professional University (LPU), where hundreds of students from across the African continent were conferred with their degrees. In a deeply symbolic event celebrating international education and cultural unity, the ceremony honoured academic excellence among graduates from 27 nations, including Zimbabwe, Namibia, Ghana, Mauritius, Sudan, and more.

The ceremony was chaired by Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Founder Chancellor of LPU, alongside Mr. Edson Moyo, Minister Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Zimbabwe to India, Dr. Col. Rashmi Mittal, Pro-Chancellor of LPU, Dr.Loviraj Gupta, Pro-Vice Chancellor of LPU and Dr. Aman Mittal, Vice President of LPU.

Congratulating the graduates Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal remarked, “You are our ambassadors of knowledge, character, and change. Wherever you go; whether back to your communities across Africa or to new horizons; you carry with you the spirit of excellence nurtured on our international campus. Let your journey ahead reflect the global outlook, resilience, and leadership you have embodied here. And always remember, you will remain an integral part of the LPU family.”

Guest of Honour Mr. Edson Moyo also cheered the graduates, noting that their achievements symbolise a brighter future for Africa, “Today’s degrees are more than document; they are passports to transformative leadership. Take the integrity, curiosity, and collaborative spirit instilled at LPU back to your communities, and let them ignite new enterprises, inclusive policies, and sustainable growth across Africa.”

Dr. Col. Rashmi Mittal, Pro-Chancellor of LPU, celebrated the graduates’ stating, “Each one of you is truly incredible. You came to LPU with aspirations, braved new cultures, cuisines and climates, and today you stand as confident global citizens. Carry bit of India and LPU with you through the friendships you forged here, the knowledge honed on this campus, and the courage that carried you through every challenge. Aim high, think big and trust your power to create extraordinary change.”

Recognising standout achievements across disciplines, LPU conferred a series of special honours wherein LasmarGarba received the Transformative Leadership Award, Emmanuel D. Okech earned the Humanitarian Award, Primrose Nokutenda Chamunorwa was named Entrepreneur of the Year, and Halima Ali took home the Best Researcher Award, among many others who were acknowledged for their achievements.

Dr. Aman Mittal reflected on the journey of the graduates, “Watching you arrive on campus full of dreams and seeing you now leave as confident global citizens reaffirms our mission. Whether you return to your homelands or pursue opportunities around the world, the knowledge, friendships, and values you gained here will be your compass.
