MAITREE 2023 Cyclothon from Chandigarh to Kathmandu Flagged off
12 Days, 1300 Km – Incredible Cyclothon by Bhavanites
Chandigarh, 26th May 2023: The Adventure and Cycling club of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh is set to embark on yet another extraordinary journey as they organize, ‘MAITREE 2023’ from Chandigarh to Kathmandu. The event was flagged off by Shri R.K. Saboo, Chairman of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Chandigarh Kendra, symbolizing the beginning of a remarkable endeavor. Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Shri R.K. Saboo extended his heartfelt appreciation to the young cyclists, applauding their unwavering determination and enthusiasm. He emphasized that their remarkable journey transcends boundaries, inspiring people from all walks of life. Reflecting on his own cycling years, Shri R.K. Saboo expressed his utmost desire to be a part of the cycling team, further highlighting his personal connection to the event.
The main objective of this cyclothon is to strengthen the centuries-old ties between India and Nepal and foster a deeper bond of friendship and love with our neighbouring country. Over the course of twelve days, these determined students and teachers will cover a staggering distance of 1300 kilometers on their cycles. Their route to Kathmandu will take them through notable destinations such as Haridwar, Kashipur, Sitarganj, Kapilvastu, and Bharatpur, adding to the richness of their experience, immersing them in an enriching and entirely different cultural experience. As messengers of peace, these young children aspire to contribute their part in making the world a more harmonious and beautiful place to live.
The Indian Embassy in Nepal has extended a warm invitation to the contingent and will be hosting them during their stay.
Mrs Vineeta Arora, Director Education cum Senior Principal, applauded the cycling team’s enthusiasm and wished them a safe trip. Present on the occasion were Ms. Inderpreet Kaur Principal New Chandigarh, Mrs. Kunika Sharma Principal Junior School and Vice Principal Mrs. Suparna Bansal who also applauded the efforts of these young ambassadors of peace as they undertake this inspiring journey.
