CHANDIGARH, 07.03.26-Bosons – The Physics Club of the Postgraduate Department of Physics, Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Sector 32-C, Chandigarh, under the PM-USHA Scheme (RUSA), organized an invited lecture on “Materials Advances for Environmental Application” on 7th March 2026 in the Physics Seminar Hall.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Pooja Devi, Senior Scientist, CSIR-CSIO, Chandigarh, an eminent researcher working in the field of advanced materials and their environmental applications. During the lecture, Dr. Pooja discussed the role of advanced materials in addressing environmental challenges. She explained how modern material science contributes to pollution control, sustainable technologies, and environmental monitoring. The session provided valuable insights into current research trends and practical applications of materials in environmental protection. The lecture proved to be highly informative and beneficial for both undergraduate and postgraduate students of the department. Students actively engaged with the speaker and gained a deeper understanding of how physics and material science contribute to solving real-world environmental issues.
On this occasion, college Principal Dr. Ajay Sharma welcomed Dr. Pooja Devi with a customary green gesture and appreciated the efforts of BOSONS – The Physics Club for organizing such academic activities. He encouraged students to actively participate in such programmes to broaden their scientific knowledge and research outlook.
Around 100 undergraduate and postgraduate students attended the lecture with great enthusiasm. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Neelu Mahajan, Head of the Department of Physics, who expressed gratitude to the speaker, the Principal, organizing members, and student participants for making the event a success.
