Chandigarh, October 31, 2025-The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) Regional Office, Chandigarh, organized a special Aadhaar Enrolment and Update Camp for visually impaired children at the Institute for the Blind, Sector 26, Chandigarh.

The initiative aimed to ensure that every child has access to an updated and valid Aadhaar, enabling them to avail various welfare schemes and services linked to the digital identity ecosystem. Through the dedicated efforts of the UIDAI team, 35 Mandatory Biometric Updates (MBUs) were successfully completed during the camp.

This outreach program reflects UIDAI’s continued commitment to inclusion and accessibility, reaffirming its vision of making digital identity available to every individual, including those with special needs. By conducting such specialized camps, UIDAI strives to bridge the digital gap and empower all sections of society to participate fully in India’s digital transformation journey.

Speaking on the occasion, officials from UIDAI Regional Office, Chandigarh, highlighted that these initiatives not only enhance access to Aadhaar services but also strengthen the government’s mission of “Digital India” and “Aadhaar for All” ensuring that no citizen is left behind in the process of digital empowerment.

Sh. Dinesh K. Kapila, Retired Chief General Manager, NABARD, and Senior Vice President of Society for the Blind / Institute for the Blind, appreciated the efforts of UIDAI for organizing the camp. He shared that the institute currently has 173 students, and initiatives like the MBU camp and Aadhaar enrolment drives greatly benefit them. He emphasized the importance of accurate data matching with the Aadhaar database, which ensures seamless delivery of benefits through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) and other welfare grants.

Sh. Kapila expressed his heartfelt gratitude to UIDAI for their support in conducting the camp and to the Government of India for enabling such inclusive initiatives that directly empower students and institutions working for persons with disabilities.

The camp was successfully organized and coordinated under the presence of Sh. Sachin, Project Manager, UIDAI Regional Office Chandigarh, and Sh. Pankaj Sharma, IEC Manager, UIDAI Regional Office Chandigarh, who interacted with the students and faculty members and emphasized UIDAI’s commitment towards promoting accessibility and digital inclusion across all sections of society.
