CHANDIGARH,03-10-2025-Department of Transfusion Medicine, PGIMER, Chandigarh and Thalassaemic Charitable Trust jointly organized 320th Blood Donation Camp of the Trust to celebrate Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan and National Voluntary Blood Donation Day on 1st October 2025 in PGIMER, Chandigarh. The Camp was dedicated to thalassaemia patients and other serious patients requiring blood support. Thalassaemic Charitable Trust made elaborate arrangements for the blood donors and set up a desk dedicated to thalassaemia awareness.
Department of Transfusion Medicine PGIMER observes National Voluntary Blood Donation Day every year to spread awareness of Voluntary Blood Donation and Thalassaemia.
Prof(Dr) R K Ratho, Dean Academic PGIMER Chandigarh was Chief Guest. He was received by Prof(Dr) Ratti Ram Sharma, HOD, Deptt. of Transfusion Medicine and Sh. Rajinder Kalra, Member Secretary TCT for the inauguration of the Blood Donation Camp. Cake cutting ceremony was held by the Chief Guest, thalassaemic patients and other faculty members of PGI in honour of Poshan Maah and National Voluntary Blood Donation Day.
Prof(Dr) Akla Khadwal, Department of Clinical Hematology and Medical Oncology; Prof(Dr) Suchet Sachdev, Dr. Sangeeta Pachar; other Senior Faculty members and Executive Members of TCT joined Prof(Dr) RK Ratho to bless and honour the blood donors by presenting Gifts, Certificate and Badges. Hon’ble 66 Voluntary Blood Donors including Prof(Dr) Akla Khadwal and Dr Viney Sood, Finance Secretary of TCT donated blood in this camp. All senior faculty members admired the role of TCT for taking care of Thalassaemics and organising blood Camps.
