CHANDIGARH, 03.10.25-Distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that it was a big “step in the positive direction”, although it came very late.
Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, urged world’s various religions and denominations to have an honest and serious look into the status of women. Women could disseminate God’s message as skillfully as men and deserved equal and full participation and access in religion, Zed added.
As women were equal partners in the society, they should be equal partners in religions also, Rajan Zed stated.
Zed pointed out that the Roman Catholic Church should also follow and permit women priests. He urged His Holiness Pope Leo XIV to put ordination of women priests on the top of his reform agenda.
Quoting Hindu scriptures, Rajan Zed says: Where women are honored, there the gods are pleased.
Zed further said that they hoped that under Mullally’s stewardship; Church of England would continue and expand its efforts at interfaith outreach, promoting religious liberty, partnering with other faiths on universal values and issues of common interest aimed at improving the human condition; and fostering relationships, promoting tolerance and mutual respect, and building trust with other religions/denominations despite doctrinal differences.
