Chandigarh, January 2:-City Mayor Smt. Harpreet Kaur Babla today released the Annual Wall Calendar–2026 of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh in the presence of MC Commissioner Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, Special Commissioner Sh. Pardeep Kumar, IAS, Medical Officer of Health Dr. Inderdeep Kaur and MC Councillors.
The wall calendar for the year 2026 has been thoughtfully designed with a strong focus on the theme of segregation of waste at source. Through impactful visuals and messages, the calendar highlights the importance of using four-colour bins for proper segregation of household waste, namely dry waste, wet waste, sanitary waste and hazardous waste.
Releasing the calendar, the Mayor appealed to the citizens of the City Beautiful to take a collective pledge to segregate waste at the household level. She emphasized that citizens’ active participation is crucial in maintaining cleanliness and making Chandigarh a top performer in Swachhata rankings. She added that waste segregation at source is the foundation of an efficient solid waste management system.
MC Commissioner Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS stated that during the year 2026, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh will give special thrust to segregation of waste at source. He informed that MCC will undertake extensive Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities across the city throughout the year to create awareness and ensure behavioural change among citizens.
He said that the release of the wall calendar marks another step by MCC towards strengthening its commitment to cleanliness, sustainability and responsible waste management, in line with the objectives of the Swachh Bharat Mission.

Chandigarh, January 02:Smt. Harpreet Kaur Babla, Mayor, Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, Commissioner, Sh. Pardeep Kumar, IAS, Special Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, along with Councillors, today extended a warm welcome to the Nagar Kirtan organized on the auspicious occasion of the Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
The Nagar Kirtan commenced from Gurdwara Sahib, Sector 34, and is proceeding towards Gurdwara Sahib, Sector 8, Chandigarh. A large number of devotees participated in the procession, including Panj Pyare, children, Gatka groups, religious organizations, and residents from different parts of the city, displaying great devotion and enthusiasm.
The Mayor appreciated the efforts of the organizers and conveyed her heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the Sangat on this holy occasion.
The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh made comprehensive arrangements for the convenience of the devotees, including the provision of drinking water, tea, and bread Pakoda for the Sangat. Special cleanliness arrangements were also ensured along the route of the Nagar Kirtan to facilitate a smooth and orderly procession across the city.
