Chandigarh, October 2- Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that development and environmental protection are two sides of the same coin—one cannot exist without the other. The mega plantation drive organized on Thursday in Faridabad is another decisive step towards achieving this balanced development, he said. Extending his greetings to people on the occasion of Dussehra, the Chief Minister paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister, Sh. Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries.

Chief Minister alongwith Revenue & Urban Local Bodies Minister, Sh. Vipul Goel, Minister of State for Food & Supplies, Sh. The Chief Minister highlighted that along with plantation, a Birds of Green Corridor will also be developed in this Green Biodiversity Corridor. He appreciated the enthusiastic participation of citizens, noting that it reflects the collective sense of responsibility among Haryanvis towards the environment. This mega plantation drive will help create a healthier and more prosperous ecosystem for future generations. Planting a tree is an act of honoring nature and expanding greenery, he said.

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that trees are not just a source of wood but the very foundation of life. Without trees, clean air, adequate rainfall, and the continuity of life on Earth would be impossible. This campaign symbolizes our gratitude towards nature, our responsibilities, and our shared resolve to secure a brighter future for generations to come, he added.

Faridabad — The Economic Nerve Centre of Haryana

Calling Faridabad the economic backbone of the state, the Chief Minister acknowledged the significant contribution of entrepreneurs, traders, and hardworking laborers who have propelled the city to new heights of growth. In this race for rapid development, we have taken much from nature. Now is the time to give back with gratitude, he said.

He said that global warming and climate change pose a serious threat to life on Earth, making forest development and tree plantation the need of the hour.

Haryana Surpasses Plantation Targets under PM Modi’s Initiative

The Chief Minister recalled that on World Environment Day (June 5, 2024), Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi launched the unique “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign at Buddha Jayanti Park in Delhi. In the first phase of this initiative, Haryana set a target of planting 1.6 crore saplings. Impressively, the state exceeded the goal by planting 1.87 crore saplings, reaffirming its environmental commitment.

This year, on World Environment Day, the second phase of the campaign began with a target of planting another 1.6 crore saplings across Haryana. So far, the Forest Department has already planted 1.45 crore saplings, while other departments have added another 50 lakh. Our objective is to turn every corner of Haryana green, said the Chief Minister.

Green Aravalli Action Plan Implemented in Southern Haryana

The Chief Minister informed that the Green Aravalli Action Plan has been implemented in Southern Haryana. This joint project of the Central and State Governments covers the Aravalli hills across four states, including Haryana. Out of 29 districts identified, five are from Haryana. To promote medicinal plant conservation and greenery, the state has established 56 Herbal Parks, 4 Nagar Vans (Urban Forests), and 18 Oxy Vans (Oxygen Forests).

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini encouraged citizens, women, and children participating in the plantation drive at Namo Van to not only plant trees but also protect and nurture them, becoming true environment guardians.

Under the Namo Van Mega Campaign, more than 3.5 lakh saplings will be planted. In the future, over 20 lakh saplings will be planted along the entire boundary of Faridabad district, effectively turning it into a large “oxygen chamber” for residents.

Minister of State for Food, Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Sh. Rajesh Nagar said that the Namo Van initiative is Faridabad’s contribution to the Prime Minister’s campaign. Lakhs of trees will be planted to turn Faridabad into a green haven, he said.

=====================================Haryana Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister

Shyam Singh Rana praises Union Government's MSP Hike for Rabi Crops

Calls MSP Hike a Big Boost for Farmers and Economy

Chandigarh, October 2- Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Sh. Shyam Singh Rana has expressed gratitude to the Central Government for approving a major increase in the Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for all key Rabi crops for the upcoming 2026–27 season. He called it a historic and farmer-friendly decision that will not only support millions of farmers but also strengthen India’s economy at a time when global trade pressures, like the recent US tariffs on Indian farm exports, are increasing.

The Minister said this MSP hike will ensure better prices for farmers, boost rural spending, increase domestic consumption, and improve India's position in international markets. He added that this move fulfills the promise made in the 2018-19 Union Budget—to set MSPs at least 1.5 times the average cost of production.

The revised MSPs for Rabi crops are, Wheat: Increased by Rs. 160 to Rs. 2,585 per quintal (109% profit over cost), Barley: Increased by Rs. 170 to Rs. 2,150 per quintal (58% profit), Chana (Gram): Increased by Rs. 225 to Rs. 5,875 per quintal (59% profit), Masoor (Lentil): Increased by Rs. 300 to Rs. 7,000 per quintal (89% profit), Mustard/Rapeseed: Increased by Rs. 250 to Rs. 6,200 per quintal (93% profit), Safflower: Highest increase of Rs. 600 to 6,540 per quintal (50% profit). These prices have been calculated based on all farming costs—including seeds, fertilizers, hired labor, and the value of family labor.

Sh. Shyam Singh Rana said that even after considering a cut in the GST and transport costs, farmers will still gain a good profit. He said this MSP rise is not just a price hike but a big financial push for the farming sector and rural economy, helping farmers spend more on their families, education, health, and small businesses.

The Minister said that this is a strong step to support farmers at a time when international trade is facing challenges. It will help us become self-reliant and reduce our need to import food, especially pulses, saving valuable foreign currency, he said.

Sh. Shyam Singh Rana said that the government has also launched a new mission to make India self-sufficient in pulses, with a budget of Rs. 11,440 crore. This “Mission for Aatmanirbhar Bharat in Pulses” (2025–26 to 2030–31) aims to increase pulse production to 350 lakh tonnes by 2030–31, expand crop area to 310 lakh hectares, and improve average yield using better seeds, intercropping methods, and 1,000 new processing units.

The Minister said that this decision fits perfectly with Haryana’s efforts under Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s leadership. The state has promised to buy all 24 major crops at MSP rates set by the Centre so that no farmer is left behind. He also highlighted how Haryana is becoming a leader in modern agriculture with the use of precision farming, drones, and AI-based farming advice. Our farmers are not only producing record harvests, but also helping fulfill Prime Minister’s vision of a Developed India by 2047 and a cleaner India through sustainable practices, he said.

Sh. Shyam Singh Rana called the MSP hike a “grand Diwali gift” for farmers. This festival of lights will now also be a celebration of prosperity and self-reliance for our farmers. Higher incomes mean more investment in communities, more innovation, and stronger economic growth. This is a clear example of good governance—working for farmers, the economy, and the nation, he said.
