7-Day NSS Camp at PG Government College for Girls, Sector 11 Promotes ‘Healthy Youth, Healthy Nation’.

Adopted Village Khudda Jassu Witnesses Awareness Drives on Health, Cleanliness and Environment

Chandigarh, September 28 2025 –The NSS Unit of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector 11, Chandigarh, has launched a 7-day National Service Scheme (NSS) camp with the central theme “Healthy Youth, Healthy Nation: Nutrition for Body, Mind and Community.” The camp brings together the energy of 150 NSS volunteers who are actively engaging in activities that combine student learning with community service.

A distinctive feature of this camp is its outreach to the adopted village Khudda Jassu, where students are educating villagers on issues that directly impact their daily lives. Special awareness sessions are being held on mental and physical health, the importance of a balanced diet, stress management through yoga and meditation, and the role of spirituality in overall well-being.

Alongside health education, the volunteers have also initiated cleanliness campaigns, waste management awareness, and tree plantation drives to encourage the villagers to adopt sustainable practices. These efforts are creating visible change in the village environment while instilling a sense of participation and pride among the residents.

The villagers are showing enthusiastic response, attending interactive sessions and joining hands with the students in keeping their surroundings clean and green. By adopting a participatory approach, the camp is ensuring that the message of “Nutrition for Body, Mind, and Community” reaches both the young and elderly in the village, making the initiative more impactful.

The camp is being organized under the dynamic leadership of Principal Dr. Rama Arora, with active support from NSS Coordinator Dr. Dhrakshayani and her team of NSS Programme Officers. Their vision is to blend classroom learning with real-world experiences, where students not only gain exposure to social responsibility but also contribute meaningfully to nation-building at the grassroots.

This initiative is a strong example of how NSS plays a crucial role in shaping youth into responsible citizens while bridging the gap between educational institutions and local communities.

Through this camp, Khudda Jassu is not only benefiting from immediate awareness activities but also moving towards long-term sustainable health and environmental practices.
