Chandigarh, Sept 25 – A meeting of Vice-Chancellors and Registrars of all state universities was held today at Raj Bhavan under the chairmanship of Haryana Governor Professor Ashim Kumar Ghosh.
The Governor appreciated the suggestions and discussions presented by the Vice-Chancellors and Registrars, describing them as highly valuable. He stated that the state government remains fully committed to the improvement and development of the higher education sector. The Governor also urged universities to explore more avenues for generating resources internally; reaching out to alumni, industry for CSR funds, and prepare a concrete action plan for the full implementation of the new National Education Policy.
Expressing confidence in the outcomes of the meeting, he said that by seriously addressing the issues raised, the state’s universities would achieve significant progress in the areas of education quality, infrastructure, and student welfare.

Co-chairing the meeting, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that all universities should take concrete initiatives to connect students with startups, enabling youth to become self-reliant and entrepreneurial—job creators rather than merely job seekers. He further urged universities to establish effective coordination with industrial units and organize regular job fairs, ensuring that students have access to better employment opportunities immediately after completing their studies.
The Chief Minister said that Haryana has now established a distinct identity as an industrial hub. To ensure that this development directly benefits the youth, he encouraged universities to actively pursue as many Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) as possible with leading industries and multinational companies.

The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi has set a goal of making India a developed nation by 2047. Urging universities to take a leading role in realizing this vision, he called upon them to provide employment-oriented education to the youth and prepare them as skilled, competent, and visionary human resources, ensuring that Haryana contributes significantly to this national objective.
He also emphasized the importance of campus security, adding that the entry of anti-social elements must be strictly prevented. Chief Minister urged all Vice-Chancellors to ensure that students stay away from social evils such as drug abuse. He highlighted that the state government’s large-scale campaign to make youth drug-free has already produced positive results.
The Chief Minister further stated that universities should prioritize sports alongside employment-oriented education, enabling youth to pursue careers in sports and bring glory to the state and the nation. He urged all universities to actively work towards self-reliance by developing their own resources.
Expressing confidence in the outcomes of the two-day meeting, he said it would help to improve university rankings, further enhance the quality of education, and empower the youth of Haryana to make significant contributions to nation-building.

Chandigarh, September 25 – Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh said education is not merely a means of preparing for employment, but a tool to enable youth to shape their own destiny.
The Governor was presiding over a two-day review meeting with Vice-Chancellors and Registrars of various universities of the state at Haryana Raj Bhawan here today.
The Governor said Haryana is rapidly emerging as a global education hub. This transformation has been made possible due to the visionary approach of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi and the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini.
He further informed that the meeting will deliberate on strengthening human resources, enhancing infrastructure, enriching academic activities, streamlining financial management, imparting skills to students, promoting start-ups, encouraging research and innovation, and ensuring a safe, drug-free, and inclusive environment in university campuses.
The Governor said the universities of Haryana have set a target to implement the new National Education Policy by 2025, much before the national target of 2030. He added that the universities of Haryana are evolving as vibrant ecosystems where tradition and technology converge, knowledge and innovation collaborate, and education is transformed into leadership.
He expressed confidence that this two-day dialogue will pave the way for an inclusive and future-oriented roadmap. On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary of the Higher Education Department, Sh. Vineet Garg presented a brief overview of the state’s higher education scenario, stating that higher education in Haryana is developing in a multidisciplinary and holistic manner. He said the National Education Policy has been fully implemented in the state and the government has adopted a proactive policy of opening colleges within a 20 km radius, especially to ensure easy access to higher education for girl students. Along with this, focus is also being laid on encouraging research, innovation, and start-ups in universities.
On this occasion, Principal Secretary of the Department of Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship, Sh. Rajiv Ranjan, Principal Secretary of Sports Department Sh. Navdeep Singh Virk, Principal Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, Sh. Pankaj Agarwal, Commissioner and Secretary of the Animal Husbandry Department, Sh. Vijay Singh Dahiya, Secretary to the Governor, Sh. Dusmanta Kumar Behera, Chairman of Haryana State Higher Education Council Sh. Kailash Chandra Sharma, Director General of Higher Education Department Sh. S. Narayanan, Director General of Technical Education Department Sh. Prabhjot Singh, OSD to the Chief Minister Dr. Raj Nehru, Vice-Chancellors and Registrars of various universities of the state along with other officials were present.
