MAHENDERGARH,25.09.25-The Department of Tourism and Hotel Management, Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh, organized a special programme to mark World Tourism Day 2025. Dr. Arvind Sharma, Hon'ble Minister of Tourism, Govt. of Haryana graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while MLA Mr. Kanwar Singh Yadav was present as the Guest of Honour. The programme was presided over by CUH Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, with Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pawan Kumar Sharma also in attendance.
The event commenced with the ceremonial lamp lighting, followed by a welcome address by Prof. Ranbir Singh, Head of the Department. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sharma emphasized that tourism is not merely a source of recreation but a powerful driver of economic growth, cultural exchange, and employment generation. He highlighted Mahendergarh’s historical landmarks as the pride of the district and underlined tourism’s crucial role in building a Developed and Self-Reliant India. Mentioning GST reforms, he noted their positive impact on the tourism sector and stressed the need to integrate tourism with sustainable development and community upliftment.
Dr. Arvind Sharma appreciated CUH’s efforts to prepare students in line with modern concepts such as Smart Tourism and Sustainable Tourism. He praised CUH’s diverse student community, with learners from 25 states, and assured cooperation between the University and the Haryana Government.
Mr. Kanwar Singh Yadav thanked the State and Central Government for their continuous developmental initiatives and lauded CUH for achieving new milestones under Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar’s leadership.
Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor said that tourism is not just a driver of economic growth but also a means of connecting society and culture. Tourism fosters dialogue between diverse cultures, strengthens cooperation, and promotes harmony. He added that the University consistently strives to provide students with practical training and a global perspective. Prof. Kumar expressed that the visit of Tourism Minister Dr. Arvind Sharma on this occasion is a matter of pride and inspiration for the University.
During the programme, Dr. Arvind Sharma felicitated students who participated in various World Tourism Day events. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Vikas Sivach, Assistant Professor and Programme Coordinator. Dr. K.N. Lokesh Kumar (Organizing Secretary), Dr. Anil Kumar, Dr. Amit Kumar, Dr. Jitender Kumar, and Ms. Shikha actively participated in the programme. Faculty members, officials, students, and local dignitaries attended the programme.
