CHANDIGARH, 09,09.25The Department of Neuro-anaesthesia and Neurocritical Care, PGIMER, Chandigarh, successfully organized the 6th Annual Conference of the Neurocritical Care Society of India (NCSI) from 4th to 7th September 2025. The event witnessed the participation of around 450 delegates and faculties, who actively engaged in the academic sessions and hands-on workshops.

The conference was inaugurated by Prof. Sanjay Behari, Director, Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The inauguration was further dignified by the presence of Prof. R. K. Ratho (Dean, Academics), Prof. Sanjay Jain (Dean, Research), along with the esteemed office bearers of NCSI – Prof. V. J. Ramesh (President), Prof. Saurabh Anand (Secretary), and Prof. Keshav Goyal (Treasurer).

Spanning four days, the scientific program provided a robust platform for academic exchange, skill development, and collaborative learning in the dynamic fields of neurocritical care. The opening day featured six specialized workshops: Brain Death Certification Workshop– covered diagnostic protocols of brain death, donor preparation, and ethical-legal considerations in organ donation. Electroencephalography (EEG) Workshop – focused on EEG interpretation in ICUs, including seizure detection, neuro-monitoring, and management. Transcranial Doppler Workshop – highlighted cerebral blood flow monitoring and vasospasm detection in critically ill patients. Mechanical Ventilation Workshop – provided training on ventilatory strategies tailored for brain-injured and ARDS patients. POCUS in Neurocritical Care Workshop – offered hands-on training in ultrasound-guided hemodynamic assessment, vascular access, and airway management. Neuro-Nursing Workshop – emphasized specialized nursing care, bedside monitoring, and management of critically ill neurological patients.

The subsequent days included symposia, expert panel discussions, keynote lectures, and interactive sessions led by distinguished national and international faculty. Topics covered a wide spectrum of challenges and advances in neurocritical care, including Stroke and brain haemorrhage management, Traumatic brain injury, Epilepsy care in critical settings, Heart–brain and gut–brain interactions, Sepsis in neurocritical care, Neurocritical care in pregnancy and paediatrics, emerging innovations and clinical dilemmas in neurocritical care setup.
The success of NCSI 2025 was made possible by the dedicated efforts of the organizing committee, led by Prof. Nidhi Panda (Organizing Chairperson), Prof. Hemant Bhagat (Organizing Co-Chairperson), Dr. Kiran Jangra (Organizing Secretary), Dr. Shiv Lal Soni (Treasurer), Faculty members: Dr. Shalvi Mahajan, Dr. Narender Kaloria, Dr. Amiya Barik, and Dr. Ashwini Reddy.

The conference, with its active participation from experts, delegates, and faculty across the globe, was hailed as an enriching academic program and advancing the vision of neurocritical care in India. The academic program was followed by a spectacular cultural program, participated by national, international faculty and students of PGIMER Chandigarh.
