MAHENDERGARH,09.09.25-Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh, organised the Collaborative Conclave on NEP 2020 implementation in collaboration with Vidya Bharati Uchcaha Shiksha Sansthan (VBUSS), Haryana, on Tuesday 9th September, 2025. The aim of the conclave was to create an ecosystem among seven universities across Haryana state in collaboration with CUH for effective implementation of NEP 2020 at the earliest.

Prof. Surender Singh, Director, IQAC cum organising secretary, CUH welcomed all the delegates and university officials. Prof. (Dr.) Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Haryana appreciated the initiatives taken by the Vice-chancellors of seven universities of Haryana Prof. B.R. Kamboj, Vice-Chancellor, Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University -Hisar; Prof. Narsi Ram Bishnoi, Vice-Chancellor, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar; Prof. Deepti Dharmani, Vice-Chancellor, Chaudhary Bansi Lal University, Bhiwani; Dr. Vijay Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Sirsa; Prof. Aseem Miglani, Vice-Chancellor, Indira Gandhi University, Meerpur Rewari; Prof. Vinod Kumar Verma, Vice-Chancellor, Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences.

Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar also emphasised that higher education plays an extremely important role in promoting human as well as societal wellbeing through quality teaching through holistic education approaches, as higher education institutions aim to significantly contribute towards innovative teaching practices, impactful research, sustainable livelihoods, and contribution towards economic development of the nation. Vice-Chancellor, CUH termed teachers as the backbone as the role of teachers is crucial in the implementation of the National Education Policy. He further stated that teachers’ contribution is more important than that of the government in empowering students. He also emphasized the significance of Indigenous, Indian knowledge System and Indian languages in the education policy-2020. He said that all partner universities will benefit from this dialogue.

The programme was attended by eminent educationist Sh. K.N. Raghunandan, Sangthan Mahamantri, VBUSS who stressed upon that higher education must aim to develop good, thoughtful, well-rounded, and creative individuals across a range of disciplines, including sciences, social sciences, arts, humanities, and languages, as well as professional, technical, and vocational subjects. He also said that the New Education Policy plays a vital role in shaping students into better citizens, and in this endeavor, the contribution of schools, universities, and teachers is to prime important than that of the nation or society. He emphasized making education student-centered, teacher-driven, and society-supported. He said that continuous changes are taking place in school education, and in the next ten years, students entering university education will be the outcome of these changes; therefore, we must prepare ourselves accordingly to meet the aspiration of this new class of youth.

Prof. Pawan Kumar Sharma, Pro-Vice Chancellor and programme convenor highlighted the significance of NEP as a tool to amalgamate the rich legacy of Bhartiya Gyan Parampara into contemporary education in order to catalyze the transformation of Bharat to regain the coveted status of Jagadguru. He reminded the purpose of NEP 2020 is to prepare students for more meaningful and satisfying lives and work roles and enable economic independence in line with mission Vikshit Bharat 2047.

In the ensuing discussion, the vice-chancellors of all the seven participating institutes presented their views in terms of the present status of the curriculum framework and challenges faced by them. Based on the present scenario and challenges faced by the invited universities, recommendations like collaboration activities with HEI, industries are to be promoted ; use of Multidisciplinary approach at undergraduate and post graduate level with emphasis on courses targeting SDGs, IKS and vocational/skill enhancement courses; revamping curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, and learning based outcomes, emphasis on preparation of MOOC courses for SWAYAM and other platform in bilingual/ regional languages; Innovation and Incubation Centres must be established and innovation related activities are to be organized to inculcate entrepreneurial environment in campuses; Incorporation of uniform policy for multiple entry and exit policy has to be prepared and implemented; course curriculum must be aligned with UGC guidelines to for easy felicitation during NAAC accreditation ; diversity of students and faculty should be encouraged; The universities must establish and strengthen IQAC for better performance in NBA, NAAC and NIRF; faculty must be encouraged to take up research to address societal needs.
The programme was ended with a formal thanks by Prof. Suneel Kumar, Registrar, CUH to all the Vice-Chancellors, Nodal officers-NEP, and other dignitaries for their gracious presence and enthusiasm to implement NEP 2020 in their respective institutes at the earliest. All the deans of the schools and heads of the departments of CUH also attended the programme. The organising team of this conclave Prof. Suman, Dr. Manisha Pandey, Dr. Anita Kumari, Dr. KR Palsania and Dr.Vikas Siwach played a pivotal role in the successful organisation of this one-day programme.
