Chandigarh, July 30:Taking serious note of the ongoing issues faced by school auto drivers, Bharatiya Janata Party Chandigarh President Jitender Pal Malhotra met with senior officials of the concerned departments and apprised them in detail of the drivers’ grievances.
During the meeting, Malhotra informed the officials that auto drivers are being harassed through unnecessary challans, checks, and administrative pressure, which is affecting their livelihood. He emphasized that this is not merely an economic issue but also a social one, as these drivers ensure safe and timely transportation of school-going children.
The officials assured the BJP President that immediate action would be taken to stop the issuance of unjustified challans. Moreover, a dedicated policy for school auto drivers is being formulated to ensure their operations remain smooth and free from undue interference. The policy will be developed in consultation with all stakeholders.
This proactive step was highly appreciated by the auto drivers. Representatives of the School Auto Union expressed their gratitude to Jitender Pal Malhotra and acknowledged the BJP’s commitment to addressing grassroots issues with sincerity.
