Chandigarh, July 25:— In a spirited meeting held today under the leadership of Chandigarh Mayor Smt. Harpreet Kaur Babla, Municipal Councillors gathered to celebrate Chandigarh’s stellar performance in the Swachh Survekshan 2024, where the city was honoured under the prestigious Super Swachh League Cities category.

The Mayor has called all councillors meet here today.

The Mayor extended heartfelt congratulations to the city’s sanitation workers, officials, and citizens, crediting their collective efforts for this national recognition. Looking ahead to Swachh Survekshan 2025, the meeting focused on crafting a robust strategy to elevate Chandigarh’s cleanliness standards even further. Key action points included:

Enhanced door-to-door waste collection mechanisms

Strengthened monitoring of public spaces and waste hotspots

Collaboration with RWAs, schools, and market bodies for grassroots engagement

Mayor Babla urged councillors to lead by example in their wards by spearheading cleanliness awareness campaigns and encouraging public participation in the city's sanitation efforts.

Chandigarh gears up for implementation of pilot AI-enabled Smart Parking revolution

Chandigarh, July 25:- A crucial meeting regarding the "Invitation to Expression of Interest (EOI)" for the pilot implementation of an AI-enabled Smart Parking System and a pass-based access system across paid parking areas was held today under the chairmanship of Sh. Saurabh Joshi, Councillor, and attended by committee member Sh. Umesh Ghai along with key officials of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh.

The meeting, held at conference room, MCC building, focused on detailed deliberations around the scope of the pilot project that aims to transform Chandigarh’s parking infrastructure through technology-driven solutions. The pilot will launch at one designated parking lot with advanced features such as RFID tagging, AI-based monitoring, automated ticket printing, and contactless entry systems.

In a strong response to the EOI, 16 agencies, including reputed banks and tech service providers, have shown keen interest in participating. These agencies are expected to submit their proposals ahead of the General House Meeting scheduled on July 29, 2025.

The received proposals will undergo comprehensive review and evaluation by the designated committee. The initiative is part of Chandigarh’s broader vision to enhance citizen convenience, reduce traffic congestion, and promote digital governance.

The committee members emphasized that the Smart Parking initiative will serve as a benchmark for future mobility solutions in the city, ensuring efficient space utilization and seamless public access.
