CHANDIGARH-21.06.2025-PGIMER commemorated the 11th International Day of Yoga, organized by its ‘CCRYN - Collaborative Centre for Mind-Body Intervention through Yoga,’ under the dedicated organizing committee. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over 3,350 doctors, healthcare workers, faculty, students, staff, and their families. Participants practiced the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP), the flagship initiative of the Ministry of AYUSH, which PGI has scientifically validated. Certified yoga trainers from PGI’s Yoga Centre led the sessions, continuing the tradition of promoting CYP annually on this special day.
Addressing the gathering, Director PGIMER, Prof.Vivek Lal, * emphasized the significance of Yoga in maintaining overall well-being, stating, “Yoga is the synchrony of inner and outer self—a profound practice that nurtures physical health, mental clarity, and emotional stability. It is a vital tool for fostering harmony within ourselves and with the environment, especially in these challenging times. I encourage everyone—students, faculty, staff, and families—to make Yoga an integral part of their lifelong journey towards health and inner peace.”
Senior PGIMER officials, including Prof. R.K. Ratho, Dean (Academics); Prof. Sanjay Jain, Dean (Research); Mr.PankajRai, Deputy Director (Administration); Prof.VipinKoushal, Medical Superintendent; Mr.Ravinder Singh, Financial Advisor; and Prof.AkshayAnand, Incharge of the Yoga Centre, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of holistic health and the ongoing initiatives to promote Yoga across the institution.
Prof.Akshay Anand, Incharge of the Yoga Centre, welcomed the senior officials and expressed his gratitude to all attendees. He underscored the Yoga Centre’s role in providing Yoga therapy to 153 patients referred from PGI’s outpatient departments.
Prof.Vipin Koushal, Medical Superintendent, commended the remarkable enthusiasm and dedication displayed by the participants, which vividly reflects the increasing recognition and support for Yoga-based health interventions within the medical community. He emphasized that such active participation underscores a paradigm shift towards holistic and integrative approaches to healthcare.
The event featured the performance of the Common Yoga Protocol and a musical Yoga segment by the Yoga Centre. The entire program was live-streamed for residents posted in wards and emergency areas. Participants received Yoga mats, T-shirts, and refreshments, fostering a spirit of community and shared wellness.
