Chandigarh, June 21:The grand finale of Summer Fest 2025 was celebrated with great fervour at T.S. Central State Library, Sector 17, Chandigarh, marking the conclusion of a vibrant and enriching three-week festival for children.
The programme was organised under the able guidance of Dr. Neeza Singh, Librarian, who has been at the forefront of innovative educational and cultural initiatives for young readers.
Children from various schools across the Tricity participated in large numbers in the fest, which included a variety of engaging workshops such as Art, Craft, Painting, French Language, Theatre, Yoga, and the unique ‘Saptasanskar’ Character Building Workshop.
Mrs. Neelam Bansal, Library Incharge, appreciated the enthusiasm and talent of all participants and extended her best wishes.
The finale was graced by prominent personalities from the literary and cultural world. Eminent litterateur Prem Vij was the Chief Guest, renowned artist Balkar Sidhu joined as the Guest of Honour, and noted poet Dr. Vinod Sharma was the Special Guest.
The resource person for the Saptasanskar workshop, Prof. Sudhir Baweja, guided the children through a week of impactful sessions on character development.
Children delivered vibrant performances including patriotic songs, Bollywood classics, Bhangra, Bharatnatyam, Gidda and comic skits, which were warmly received by the audience.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Neeza Singh emphasized the role of libraries in holistic development and said, “T.S. Central State Library organizes the Summer Fest every year to connect children with the world of books, creativity, and learning. Such programmes bring out the hidden talents of children and instil in them important life values.”
Chief Guest Prem Vij praised the library’s initiative and stated that such platforms allow children to discover their potential and gain confidence. Balkar Sidhu expressed delight at the high quality of performances and said he was amazed by the children’s energy and creativity. Dr. Vinod Sharma remarked that the event, under the leadership of Dr. Neeza Singh, reflected the library’s deep commitment to its readers and the larger community.
