SHIMLA-21st June, 2025-Under the initiative of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’, a special cultural interaction programme was organized today at Raj Bhavan, Shimla to commemorate the Statehood Days of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Sikkim, Goa, Telangana and West Bengal. Citizens from these states currently residing in Himachal Pradesh participated in the celebration with enthusiasm and warmth.
On the occasion, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Lady Governor Janaki Shukla honored the participants by presenting them with traditional Himachali caps and mufflers, symbolizing the state’s hospitality and cultural harmony.
During the interaction, the Governor lauded the rich cultural heritage, traditions, and contributions of the participating states. He emphasized that such events embody the true spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat by fostering unity in diversity. This event brings them together and creates a sense of belonging, making them feel at home even when they are far from their native place,” the Governor said.
He further stated that the initiative of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat promotes mutual understanding, respect for linguistic and cultural diversity, and a spirit of national integration. “Seeing people from different parts of India gathered in one place gives a sense of 'Mini India' right here in Himachal,” he added.
The Governor added that while unity in diversity is India’s strength, it is equally important to preserve and promote the individual cultures, languages and traditions of one’s home state. “These values must be passed on to future generations to ensure the preservation of our rich cultural legacy,” he said.
Participants shared insights into the vibrant cultural heritage of their respective states and engaged in meaningful interaction with the Governor.
Secretary to the Governor C.P. Verma and other prominent people were also present on the occasion.
