CHANDIGARH, June 21, 2025-Panjab University, Chandigarh, today celebrated the 11th International Yoga Day with a function at Panjab University Gymnasium Hall.

The International Yoga Day celebrations were organised by PU Department of Sports in collaboration with the Dean Student Welfare (DSW), Panjab University, Chandigarh, Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), North-West Regional Centre, Sports Authority of India, Northern Centre, Zirakpur, and Dev Samaj College for Women, Chandigarh.

In her message on International Yoga Day, PU Vice Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig said, “Yoga is not only a celebration of our ancient tradition but also a path to holistic well-being. It is heartening to see the PU teachers, staff, and research scholars come together to promote health, balance, and inner peace through such events.”

PU Dean University Instructions, Professor Yojna Rawat, graced the function as the Chief Guest. PU Registrar, Prof. Y.P. Verma; Dean Student Welfare, Professor Amit Chauhan; Director, ICSSR, NWR Region, Prof. Upasna Joshi Sethi; Director Phy. Edu & Sports, Dr. Rakesh Malik; Deputy Director Phy. Edu & Sports, Dr. Dolly Khanna; Deputy Director, SAI, Mr. Lalit Lohani; and Principal, Dev Samaj College for Women, Chandigarh, Prof. Neeru Malik, along with many other distinguished dignitaries, were present on the occasion.

The celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, staff, and the general public, who collectively embraced the spirit of yoga for health and harmony.

As a run-up to the International Yoga Day, a month-long yoga camp was organised from 20 May to 20 June 2025 at the University under the guidance of renowned Yog Guru Acharya Raman. The camp attracted participants from various age groups and promoted holistic well-being through daily yoga practice. A Yoga Competition was also organised on 20 June 2025, which saw active involvement and spirited performances by students and staff.
