Education Minister releases 'Thundal Ki Haarul' song
SHIMLA, 27.05.25-Education Minister Rohit Thakur today released a Pahari song titled ‘Thundal Ki Haarul’, sung by Dinesh Sharma, who hails from Dungi village in Sangrah, District Sirmaur. The song is based on an approximately 800-year-old folk tale from the ancient village of Thundal, which presently falls under Pulwahal area of Chopal assembly constituency in Shimla district.
The Education Minister said that such initiatives play an important role in preserving and promoting our rich culture and glorious history. He mentioned that his ancestors also hailed from Thundal village and this song makes a commendable effort to keep alive the story of migration from the village and other historical events. The song offers a glimpse of the cultural life, traditions and lifestyle of the people from that time.
Rohit Thakur congratulated Dinesh Sharma for bringing out this song in the form of a Haarul (traditional folk form), praised Dinesh DK for composing the music and also congratulated the people hailing from Kathwar village. The song, written by late Meena Ram Sanghaik, is an effort to bring the nearly 800-year-old folk legend to the people.

Priority to be given to Corona Warriors in recruitment of nurses: CM
- State Government spending Rs 1350 crore on medical technology
SHIMLA, 27.05.25-Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu interacted with faculty members of IGMC Shimla and Atal Institute of Medical Super Specialty, Chamiyana here on Monday evening and discussed in detail the challenges of the future in the health sector. The heads of departments of various medical colleges made their presentation and the Chief Minister assured that the state government will provide all possible assistance as per the requirements of each medical college.
The Chief Minister said that within a year, machines and equipment older than 20 years in government health institutions will be replaced. The robotic surgery facility will be started in Super Specialty Hospital Chamiyana and Tanda Medical College within two months. Besides, three Tesla MRI machines are also being installed in all medical colleges in a phased manner.
He said that the previous governments did not pay any special attention to improving health services, due to which patients are facing various problems. The present government has given priority to improvement in the field of education and health and Rs 1350 crore are being spent on medical technology. The state government will provide funds to construct hostels for students studying medicine and parking facility will be strengthened for patients as well as staff.
Shri Sukhu said that the state government is trying to fill various vacant posts in the health department along-with the use of modern technology. The posts of doctors are being filled up on priority and priority will be given to the nurses who worked during the Corona epidemic in the recruitment of nurses. He said that along with para-medical staff, technicians are also being recruited. "We are ensuring doctor-patient and nurse-patient ratio as per international standards so that they can get a better environment for work", added the Chief Minister.
He said that today the premium health institutions of the state have become mere referral health institutions, hence there is a need for comprehensive improvement in them. The state government has spent Rs 100 crore for the improvement of health services in IGMC Shimla and in the coming time, Rs 200 crore more will be provided to improve it.
He said that due to restoration of old pension to government employees, many types of financial restrictions have been imposed on Himachal Pradesh, but the state government is still making efforts to improve health services. He said that patients always come to the hospital with the hope of recovery, in such a situation, if doctors talk to them in a good manner, their suffering will be reduced.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Colonel (Dr.) Dhani Ram Shandil said that such dialogue programmes are important in improving health services. All medical professionals are doing good work in the health institutions of the state and efforts should continue to make it even better. He said that there is a lot of progress in the field of medical education and the state government is making serious efforts to provide modern machines in Himachal Pradesh so that people can get better health facilities near their homes.
Health Secretary M. Sudha Devi gave detailed information about the reforms being done in the health sector by the state government.

State wide earthquake mock exercise to be organized on 6th June
SHIMLA, 27.05.25-Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA) will organise the 9th State-wide earthquake mock exercise in collaboration with National Disaster Management Authority simultaneously in all the districts of the State on 6 June, 2025.
An orientation and coordination workshop was organized for all the stakeholders here today for this exercise where Principal Advisor, National Disaster Management Authority Major General (Rtd.) Sudhir Bahl gave detailed information on the outline and action plan of the mega mock exercise based on earthquake through virtual medium. Apart from the officers present at the state level, Deputy Commissioners, members of the District Disaster Management Team and Sub-Divisional level officers also participated in this workshop through virtual medium.
Sudhir Bahl said that the objective of this mega mock exercise is to test and strengthen the coordination and readiness among various departments, agencies and people of the state to deal with natural disasters like earthquake. Also, during the mock exercise, the functioning of emergency services, relief and rescue operations and availability of resources are to be practically tested.
He said that in view of this mega mock exercise, a table top exercise will be conducted on June 3 for which the heads and nodal officers of all the concerned departments have been asked to ensure their presence. He said that district and sub-division level officers will participate in this table top exercise through virtual medium.
Sudhir Bahl said that being a hilly state, about 70 percent of the population of the state lives in earthquake sensitive zones four and five. Moreover, the state is also sensitive to other types of natural disasters. He said that if the state prepares itself to deal with earthquake through this mega mock exercise, then preparations will automatically be made for other disasters as well.
Director and Special Secretary (Revenue-Disaster) D.C Rana gave detailed information about the preparations being made by the HPSDMA for state wide mega mock exercise. He said that with the joint efforts of the SMDAMA and NDMA, this mega mock exercise will prove to be an important step towards disaster management in the state as the state will be able to review the preparations and the ability to deal with other disasters will also be strengthened.
At the state level, senior officers of various departments including administration, police, NDRF, Deepak Project, ITBP were also present in this workshop.

CM congratulates Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan
SHIMLA, 27.05.25-Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu congratulated Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, Judge of Himachal Pradesh High Court on his appointment as Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court.
The Chief Minister praised Justice Chauhan's exceptional judicial skills, integrity and commitment to uphold the rule of law. The Chief Minister wished him successful tenure in his new role.

HPCC to organise 'Jai Hind Sabha' on 30 May
SHIMLA,27.05.25-Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania informed that the HP Congress Committee (HPCC) will organise a mega programme titled 'Jai Hind Sabha', to commemorate 'Operation Sindoor' and honour the brave soldiers of the Nation. This programme will be organised on 30 May, 2025 at Hotel Peterhoff at 10 AM.
While chairing a meeting regarding preparations for this programme here today, he said that Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Treasurer of AICC and Rajya Sabha MP Ajay Makan and in-charge of the HPCC Rajni Patil along-with other seniors party office bearers, party workers and ex-servicemen from all the districts will participate in this programme.
Later, Kewal Singh Pathania also visited hotel Peterhoff to take stock of the preparations for the programme.
