One arrested under EXCISE ACT
A case FIR No. 187 u/s 61-1-14 Excise Act has been registered at Police Station 31 against Sandeep Kumar S/o Ramehar Singh, R/o H. No. 2710, Chandigarh Small Flats, Sector-49/C, Chandigarh, aged 40 years. He was apprehended in front of Kalima Shoes, Industrial Area, Phase-II, Chandigarh, on 09-10-2026 at about 4:05 PM. During the search, the police recovered 10 quarter bottles of Royal General Whisky, 46 quarter bottles of Desi Santra and 4 bottles of Desi Santra from his possession. The accused was arrested and subsequently bailed out.
SNATCHING
A case FIR No. 164 u/s 304(2), 3(5) BNS has been registered at Police Station 34 on the complaint of Shesh Narayan S/o Raghav Ram, R/o H. No. 3134, Sector-52, Chandigarh, aged 29 years. The complainant reported that on 09-10-2026, two unknown persons riding a black-coloured motorcycle bearing an unknown registration number approached him near the Petrol Pump, Sector-44, Chandigarh. The pillion rider, who allegedly snatched the complainant's mobile phone, after which both persons sped away from the spot. Investigation of the case is in progress.
Cheating by impersonation
A case FIR No. 172 u/s 318(4), 319(2), 336(3), 338, 340(2), 61(2) BNS has been registered at Police Station Cyber Crime on the complaint of Shalini W/o Princepreet Singh, R/o H. No. 212/B, Kendriya Vihar, Sector-48/B, Chandigarh.
The complainant reported that an unknown person allegedly cheated her of ₹59,000/- by impersonating a fraudster who pretended to be a sales employee. The accused allegedly made false representations and promises to lure the complainant, resulting in the financial loss.
A case FIR No. 173 u/s 318(4), 319(2), 61(2) BNS has been registered at Police Station Cyber Crime on the complaint of Jasoda W/o L.D. Sharma, R/o H. No. 668/1, Sector-41/A, Chandigarh. The complainant reported that an unknown person allegedly cheated her of ₹1,85,290/- by impersonating an employee of Punjab National Bank (PNB). The accused allegedly used the pretext of an insurance policy to defraud the complainant.
CHEATING IN THE NAME OF VISA
A case FIR No. 171 u/s 318(4), 61(2) BNS has been registered at Police Station 39 in connection with a complaint regarding alleged cheating of ₹14,50,000/- in the name of arranging a visa, involving Vinod Kumar Vishwakarma, R/o Sector-52, Chandigarh, associated with M/s Legal Guide Overseas, SCO No. 228, Top Floor, Sector-40/D, Chandigarh, and others.
As per the available Daily Crime Report, the complainant was allegedly cheated of ₹14,50,000/- in connection with visa-related services.
ACCIDENT
A case FIR No. 58 u/s 281, 125(A) BNS has been registered at Police Station 49 on the complaint of Vijay Kumar S/o Sita Ram, R/o H. No. 2005, Sector-45, Chandigarh, aged 50 years. The complainant reported that an unknown driver of a car bearing registration No. CH-01DF-6365 allegedly hit his motorcycle at the Sector-45/46/49/50 Chowk, Chandigarh, on 04-10-2026 at about 6:30 PM. As a result of the collision, the complainant sustained injuries and was admitted to PGI, Sector-12, Chandigarh, for treatment.
