Chandigarh, 10 September: Postgraduate Department of Economics at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women organised an interactive session on Financial Literacy under the aegis of “RBI’s Campus Dialogues”. The initiative aimed to empower students with financial literacy awareness while familiarising them with the evolving banking and financial landscape of the country. The session featured Sh. Pankaj Setiya, General Manager, Reserve Bank of India, Regional Office, Chandigarh, as the Chief Guest and resource person.

Sh. Pankaj Setiya delivered an informative talk on ‘Financial Literacy for Empowerment- Building a Financially Aware and Secure Future’. The topics covered included the meaning and necessity of financial literacy, the concept of banks and the banking ecosystem, financial competencies, inflation, digital fraud prevention, practical banking tips, and careers in banking and the RBI. He elaborated on knowledge, skills, and attitude in relation to financial literacy through pertinent examples, and added that these must translate into actual behaviour, thereby shaping one's day-to-day choices. He advised that, with regard to investment, one must remain flexible rather than adhere rigidly to a particular type of investment. Invoking the maxim that money saved is money earned, he emphasised the importance of beginning to invest early in life. The session was well-received by students and faculty.

Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma appreciated the initiative and emphasised the importance of connecting classroom learning with insights from professionals and institutions of national significance. She noted that such interactions broaden students’ understanding of contemporary economic and financial issues and equip them to engage more confidently with the changing professional landscape.
