Youth Share Ideas for a Better Chandigarh; Mayor Gives Mantra of ‘ASK • SHARE • SUGGEST • ACT’

Chandigarh, September 9: In an engaging interaction with Chandigarh’s young minds, Mayor Sh. Saurabh Joshi today participated in ‘Yuva Samvaad – Mayor Se Seedhi Baat’, organised by Meeshan Foundation, providing youngsters an open platform to ask questions, share ideas and suggest solutions for the city’s future.

Calling youth the “energy and changemakers of Chandigarh,” Mayor Joshi discussed key civic issues including waste management, environment, plantation, public transport and responsible citizenship, stressing that a better Chandigarh can only be built through active citizen participation.

“Chandigarh belongs to all of us. Don’t just observe change—become a part of it. Ask questions, share ideas, suggest solutions and, most importantly, act,” Mayor Joshi said.

Sharing his vision for a Clean, Green and Zero-Waste Chandigarh, the Mayor urged youngsters to adopt waste segregation, reuse and recycling in everyday life. “Zero-Waste Chandigarh cannot be achieved by the Municipal Corporation alone; it has to become a people’s movement, with our youth leading from the front,” he said.

Mayor Joshi also gave youngsters a ‘Green Birthday Challenge’—plant a tree on every birthday and nurture it. He encouraged greater use of public transport, reduction of single-use items and collective responsibility for keeping Chandigarh’s public spaces clean.

Giving young Chandigarh a simple mantra, he said:

“Your Voice. Your Ideas. Your Chandigarh. Small actions by each one of us can together create a big transformation,” the Mayor said.

Mayor Joshi appreciated Meeshan Foundation organisers Dr. Prabhjot, Saurav Malik, RJ Manav and Himanshi, along with the entire team, for bringing Chandigarh’s young citizens and civic leadership together on a meaningful platform for constructive dialogue.

He concluded by urging youngsters to become ambassadors of positive change in their homes, campuses, neighbourhoods and across the city.

MCC intensifies anti-encroachment drive; 81 challans issued across city

Chandigarh, September 9:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today continued its city-wide anti-encroachment drive to remove illegal vending and encroachments from public spaces and ensure smooth movement of pedestrians and traffic.

The enforcement teams conducted drives at multiple locations, including Sectors 15, 7, PGI, 9, 37, 20, 21, 48 and 49. During the drive, illegal vendors and encroachments occupying public spaces were removed, while 81 challans were issued to violators.

The Corporation reiterated that encroachment on public spaces will not be permitted and enforcement action will continue across Chandigarh.
