Chandigarh. 5 February 2026. The Postgraduate Department of English, Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma (GGDSD) College, Sector 32, Chandigarh, successfully organised a multiple-day-long Creative Writing Workshop aimed at nurturing literary expression, strengthening creative skills, and introducing students to diverse forms of poetic and reflective writing.

Under its six-day workshop series, the Department of English hosted three eminent resource persons — Prof. Deepti Gupta (Professor at the Department of English and Cultural Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh), Mrs Neena Singh (a banker-turned-poet from Chandigarh), and Dr. Urvi Sharma (Assistant Professor of English at Amity University, Mohali). The workshop sessions offered both scholarly insight and creative inspiration and students learnt to write poems of different kinds, such as haikus, blackout poetry, ekphrastic poetry, etc.

The programme commenced on each day with Principal Dr. Ajay Sharma warmly welcoming the distinguished resource persons and addressing the gathering. He appreciated the department’s efforts in encouraging students to engage with literature beyond the conventional classroom. The programme concluded with Ms. Pooja Sarin, Head of the PG Department of English, expressing gratitude to the resource persons and delivering the formal vote of thanks. The Department of English reaffirmed its commitment to fostering creativity, critical inquiry, and literary appreciation through such dynamic academic endeavours.
