CHANDIGARH,05.02.2026,The 70th Annual Athletic Meet of Government College of Education, Sector 20-D, Chandigarh commenced today with great enthusiasm, energy, and sporting spirit. The meet was inaugurated by Ms. Prerna Puri, IAS, Secretary Education and Secretary Sports, Chandigarh Administration, in the presence of the Principal of the college, Dr. Sapna Nanda, and Dr. Neelam Paul, Associate Professor, Physical Education.

The inaugural ceremony began with the unfurling of the college flag, followed by an impressive March Past by the students, reflecting discipline, coordination, and team spirit. The Chief Guest took the salute and appreciated the high standards of physical fitness, discipline, and synchronization displayed by the participants. The athletes’ oath was administered thereafter, reaffirming the values of fair play and sportsmanship.

The Chief Guest appreciated the sincere efforts made by the institution in organizing the event and promoting sports activities among students and faculty members. She encouraged faculty members and students to adopt physical fitness and uphold the true spirit of sportsmanship.

Dr. Sapna Nanda, Principal of the college, formally welcomed the Chief Guest and highlighted that the Annual Athletic Meet is a regular and significant feature of the institution, aimed at promoting physical fitness, resilience, and a healthy competitive spirit among students.

The successful organization of the event was made possible due to the untiring efforts, exemplary leadership, and remarkable zeal of Dr. Neelam Paul, Associate Professor, Physical Education. Her meticulous planning and dedication ensured the smooth conduct of the first day of the meet.

A large number of students from B.Ed., M.Ed., and PGDGC courses participated enthusiastically in various track and field events conducted on the first day, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere on the campus
