Chandigarh, 30 January: The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) Cell and Library of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women organised a series of awareness and outreach activities fostering constitutional values, patriotism and responsible citizenship among diverse sections of society.
The Cell conducted an awareness session on Fundamental Duties at the Government Model High School, Badheri, Chandigarh. The programme aimed to instil constitutional values among the rural masses in an atmosphere imbued with patriotic zeal and fervour. The resource person for the session, Ms Richa Gupta, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, emphasised the significance of Fundamental Duties, the promotion of constitutional values and the need for responsible and informed citizenship. The Cell also organised a programme at the Anganwadi Centre in village Attawa, Chandigarh that sought to ignite the spirit of patriotism among young children through an engaging and constructive discussion on the sacrifices made by soldiers for the nation’s freedom. The interactive dialogue highlighted the importance of constitutional values and respect for national heritage, successfully rekindling patriotic spirit among all those present at the Anganwadi. Complementing these outreach efforts, the college Library organised an online quiz, encouraging students to enhance their knowledge of the Constitution, national history and democratic values. The winners of the Quiz Competition were: First: Maninder Kaur (B.A. II), Second: Anshika Suri (B.Com. II), and Third: Manpreet Kaur (B.Com. II)
Officiating Principal Ms Neena Sharma appreciated the concerted efforts of the UBA Cell and the Library in organising activities beyond the campus and nurturing a sense of constitutional responsibility, patriotism and national pride among students and the community alike.
