Jalandhar, 20.12.25-; As the winter holiday season approaches, Lovely Professional University’s School of Hotel Management and Tourism was abuzz with aromatic creativity during its annual Fruit Maceration Ceremony. The event saw the first year culinary arts students lead a vibrant, hands on ritual, blending an array of fruits, nuts, spices, and honey, a traditional practice that marks the start of festive baking and symbolizes the blending of learning with legacy.
Col. Dr. Rashmi Mittal, Pro Chancellor of LPU, graced the occasion and commended the students’ enthusiasm stating, “This ceremony is more than a tradition; it is a foundational experience that teaches patience, teamwork, and the art of flavour. It reflects how our curriculum blends timeless techniques with modern hospitality education, preparing students to craft memorable experiences in their future careers.”
The venue was beautifully decorated with Christmas trees, sparkling lights, and colorful ornaments. Students contributed to the festive vibe by designing an edible gingerbread house, which became the event’s centerpiece. To enhance the festive atmosphere, students performed traditional Christmas carols and danced joyfully, filling the air with melodies of goodwill and peace.
The traditional cake mixing ceremony, with origins in Middle Eastern practices, represents the harmony of cultures and the essence of community spirit. For centuries, similar rituals have been embraced worldwide to usher in the new year, remaining an integral part of holiday celebrations across cultures.
