Chandigarh, October 1, 2025:The Hon’ble Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh, today flagged off a convoy of four trucks carrying relief material from Punjab Raj Bhavan, Chandigarh, to Fazilka and Amritsar, Punjab, for families affected by the recent floods. This gesture by the Administrator symbolizes the Administration’s continued solidarity with the people of Punjab during this time of distress. The Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman, Red Cross Society, Chandigarh, was also present on the occasion.

The relief material was arranged by Chandigarh Beopar Mandal, under the leadership of its President, Sh. Sanjeev Chadha, with contributions from Chandigarh Grain Market, led by its President, Sh. Mohit Sood, under the banner of the Indian Red Cross Society, U.T. Branch, Chandigarh. The consignment included beds, mattresses, pillows, blankets, cattle feed, and other essential flood-relief items. This was the third consignment dispatched by the Chandigarh Red Cross Branch, following the earlier dispatch of seven truckloads of relief material last month.

On the occasion, the Administrator expressed deep solidarity with the people of Punjab and assured that the Chandigarh Red Cross Branch will continue extending all possible support to flood-affected families. He further emphasized that humanitarian aid during natural calamities is made possible only through the generous contributions of donors and civil society organizations.

Prominent members present during the flag-off included Sh. Charanjit Singh, Sh. Diwakar Sooja, Sh. Gursharan Batra, Sh. Mohinder Singh Breta, Sh. Madan Lal Gulhati, Sh. Rdhey Lal Bajaj, along with several other members of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal and Chandigarh Grain Market. The Beopar Mandal, which has always come forward for charitable work, is also identifying small businesses affected during the recent floods in Himachal Pradesh so that timely relief and support can be extended to them.

The Red Cross Society, Chandigarh Branch, has appealed to citizens and organizations to continue contributing generously so that more relief material can be dispatched to flood-affected areas in the coming days.
