Chandigarh, 1 October 2025: Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 27, Chandigarh, observed Gandhi Jayanti with reverence and pride to mark Mahatma Gandhi’s 156th birth anniversary. The commemoration paid tribute to his life and upheld his timeless ideals and philosophy. Hon’ble Justice Hemant Gupta graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and joined the Bhavan family in paying homage to the Father of the Nation. Among the distinguished guests present were Shri R. K. Saboo, esteemed Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chandigarh Kendra; Shri Madhukar Malhotra, Honorary Secretary; Mrs. Vineeta Arora, Director Education cum Senior Principal; Mrs. Inderpreet Kaur, Principal, Bhavan Vidyalaya, New Chandigarh; Mrs. Kunika Sharma, Principal, Bhavan Vidyalaya, Junior Wing; Mrs. Suparna Bansal, Vice Principal, Bhavan Vidyalaya Chandigarh.
The ceremony began with a heartfelt prayer by the school choir. Students of the junior wing presented a powerful Nukkad Natak on India’s freedom struggle. A documentary on Gandhiji’s life was screened, followed by a stirring Hindi docu-drama. Both captured his journey of truth, non-violence, and sacrifice, deeply moving the audience. The highlight of the day was a soulful medley of songs inspired by Gandhiji’s ideals. It spread his timeless message of peace, unity, and compassion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest, Justice Hemant Gupta, urged students to imbibe Gandhiji’s values of simplicity, honesty, and service to the nation in their everyday lives. Shri R.K. Saboo, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chandigarh Kendra, also encouraged the audience to live by Gandhiji’s philosophy, reminding them that truth, non-violence, and compassion are not just ideals of the past but guiding principles for a brighter future. The celebration concluded with the National Anthem, filling the campus with pride and patriotism.
