CHANDIGARH,27.09.25-The Department of Hematology, PGIMER, Chandigarh, organized a two-day workshop on Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) on September 25–26, 2025, at the Advanced Pediatric Centre Auditorium.
The workshop was attended by over 130 delegates and featured eminent faculty including Dr. Reena Das, Dr. Sreejesh S, and others. Sessions focused on how NGS is applied in diagnosing inherited genetic conditions and blood cancers. Participants viewed video demonstrations of the major laboratory steps involved in this advanced technique, along with live sessions showing how the complex data is processed through specialized computer programs. Faculty also highlighted the precautions that must be taken when interpreting and reporting these results for patient care, ensuring accuracy and clinical relevance. Speakers underlined that NGS is rapidly becoming a cornerstone of modern diagnostics, enabling doctors to detect genetic changes with greater precision.
