Chandigarh, September 27 – Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini was presented with a cheque amounting to Rs.36 lakh from the Director, Intersoft Company, Sh. Sandeep Pase, to support the revival of the historic Saraswati River. The contribution has been made to the Saraswati Heritage Development Board as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment.

Praising Intersoft Company for their contribution, the Chief Minister said that such initiatives reflect the growing participation of the private sector in preserving Haryana’s cultural and historical legacy. He emphasized that reviving the Saraswati River remains one of the state government’s top priorities, and consistent efforts are being made to restore it.

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini further stated that along with development, the government is equally focused on reviving and preserving its cultural heritage for future generations. He added that the involvement of citizens and private organizations in the Saraswati River revival project sets an inspiring example of collaborative efforts.

On this occasion, Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that Karnal secured the third position in the country in the recent cleanliness survey. Now, Karnal will mentor five cities of the state namely Siwan and Rajound (Kaithal), Ismailabad (Kurukshetra), Narnaund (Hisar), and Kalanwali (Sirsa) on cleanliness. He added that other towns and cities will also be developed as clean, green, and beautiful by fulfilling the set cleanliness parameters.

He emphasized that maintaining cleanliness can help prevent many diseases, and it is everyone’s collective responsibility to make the Swachhata Abhiyan, launched under the able leadership of the Prime Minister, a huge success.

*Paddy procurement continues smoothly*

In response to a question, the Chief Minister said that paddy procurement is underway smoothly. Efforts are being made to install electronic weighing scales in the markets (mandis). The district administration has appointed officers to oversee procurement arrangements and ensure that paddy is purchased properly in the mandis, he added.

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that during the Congress government, crop loss compensation was rarely provided, and farmers had to wait endlessly, sometimes receiving cheques for just one or two rupees. In contrast, his government has ensured timely payment for crop loss. This year too, farmers who have registered on the compensation portal will receive compensation promptly after verification.

Sh. Rana highlighted that with only two GST slabs — 5 percent and 18 percent, inflation will be significantly reduced. The revised rates have come into effect from September 22. The GST reforms will improve living standards, provide a new boost to consumption and development.

Speaking on cleanliness, the Cabinet Minister said that other nations lead in sanitation because their citizens take it seriously. If we want our villages, towns, state and country to excel in cleanliness, we must all step forward and contribute, he added.

The Agriculture Minister also called on everyone to support the Prime Minister’s initiative, ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’. If we want to protect our environment from pollution and avoid severe diseases, we must join this campaign, he said. Highlighting the state’s progress, he added that under Chief Minister, Sh. Chandigarh, September 27-In the interest of farmers, the Haryana Government has decided to increase the procurement price of millet being purchased by procurement agencies in the state by Rs. 50 per quintal. Millet will now be procured at Rs. 2,200 per quintal and Rs. 575 per quintal will be transferred directly to farmers’ bank accounts under the ‘Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana’.

With this decision, farmers will receive a total payment of Rs.2,775 per quintal for millet procured by the government, matching the Minimum Support Price (MSP) fixed by the Government of India.

Sharing information in this regard a spokesperson of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department said that earlier the procurement price was Rs. 2,150 per quintal, and Rs. 625 per quintal was transferred to farmers' accounts, resulting in the state's farmers receiving the MSP set by the Government of India.

The spokesperson further informed that after reviewing the market rates of millet and keeping the farmers’ interest in mind, this decision has been taken.

If private traders purchase millet from farmers in the state through the e-Kharid system at a rate higher than Rs. 2,200 per quintal, the government will still pay farmers Rs. 575 per quintal under the ‘Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana’. In such cases, farmers will benefit by receiving an amount higher than the MSP fixed by the Government of India, the spokesperson added.

Notably, to benefit farmers, the state government has already advanced the procurement of millet during the Kharif season 2025-26, which was to start from October 1, and has been started from September 23. A total of 92 mandis/procurement centres have been set up for millet procurement across the state. The procurement of millet in the state is being done by HAFED and Haryana State Warehousing Corporation procurement agencies.

The spokesperson also said that this year, 5,06,313 farmers in the state have registered themselves for millet procurement on the ‘Meri Fasal Mera Byora portal’.

Chandigarh, September 27- Haryana Development and Panchayat and Mines and Geology Minister, Sh. Krishan Lal Panwar, said that cleanliness is not the responsibility of a single individual but a collective duty of all. Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi launched the ‘Swachh Bharat’ abhiyan on October 2, 2014, appealing to all citizens of India to actively participate. By transforming it into a nationwide mass movement, the Prime Minister has successfully kindled the spirit of cleanliness in every corner of the country.

Sh. Krishna Lal Panwar said this while speaking as the Chief Guest at a state-level ceremony organised by the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department in Gadhpuri village, Palwal.

Notably, 22 Sarpanches from across Haryana, leading in cleanliness efforts, were honored for their exemplary work. The Minister urged other Sarpanches to draw inspiration from them. Under the guidance of the Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, the campaign has been launched in 750 villages across the state, and all present were encouraged to take a pledge for cleanliness and hygiene.

Sh. Krishna Lal Panwar said that it is everyone’s responsibility to make Haryana Number One in cleanliness, achievable only through collective cooperation and participation.

He appealed to representatives of Zilla Parishads, Panchayat Samitis, and Gram Panchayats to promote “waste-to-best” practices and utilize waste for various productive purposes. He added that the government is planning to use cow dung from gaushalas for gas production through plants, with more than 100 gaushalas already identified for the initiative.

The Minister also stressed giving full respect and honor to Safai Karamchari, treating them with dignity, and highlighted that the government is continuously working for their welfare and upliftment.

Sh. Krishna Lal Panwar said that under the leadership of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi and Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, the state government is consistently working to realize the vision of Gram Swaraj. No shortage of funds will be allowed for village development.

Under the first phase of the department’s initiatives, 2,200 silted ponds will be renovated and beautified into grand parks. Where Gram Panchayat buildings are available, the government will set up Mahila Sanskriti Kendra, E-Libraries, and Indoor Gyms. Village streets will be paved, streetlights installed, and in villages without a Gram Secretariat, Rs. 25 lakh will be transferred via DBT to the accounts of the Sarpanches. Roads of 3rd and 4th karam in Sajra will also be concreted, he said.

The Minister urged representatives of Zilla Parishads, Panchayat Samitis, and Gram Panchayats to perform effectively at all levels and work in coordination. He also listened to the grievances and issues of the Sarpanches and called for their prompt resolution.

Sh. Krishna Lal Panwar highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister, Sh.Narendra Modi the central government is actively promoting the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative. The idea behind this campaign is that supporting local products will strengthen small entrepreneurs, gradually enabling their products to reach global markets, achieving the goal of ‘Local for Global’.

Chandigarh, September 27 – Haryana Environment, Forests and Wild Life Minister, Rao Narbir Singh, while participating in a tree plantation programme organized in Bhondsi village, Gurugram on Saturday urged the citizens to protect the environment. Addressing the programme held under the joint aegis of the Forest and Wildlife Department and ISKCON, the Minister planted saplings along with the villagers. MLA, Sohna, Sh. Tejpal Tanwar was also present at the event.

In his address, the Minister also urged citizens not to limit themselves to just planting trees, but to care for them as they would their own children. He emphasized that trees are our companions in life, and protecting them is essential to ensuring a healthy environment and a better future.

Expressing concern, Rao Narbir Singh stated that if the environment is not well, economic progress will also lose its significance. During the monsoon season, the Air Quality Index (AQI) remains normal for only two months, while for the remaining 9–10 months, pollution adversely affects both our health and the environment. He also appealed to citizens to avoid using polythene.

The Minister said that waterlogging in cities is primarily caused by polythene, which clogs sewer lines. He said that if we stop using polythene and make tree plantation a part of our lives, it will be possible to build clean and green cities alongside environmental protection.

Professor of Law Department, Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi, Dr. Asad Malik shared significant insights on the constitution and law-making process. He stated that three new laws recently passed by Parliament aim to provide citizens with quick and effective justice.

Dr. Malik elaborated that Indian democracy is built on three fundamental pillars namely, the legislature, the executive, and the judiciary. Each has a distinct role, the legislature makes laws, the executive implements them, and the judiciary interprets them to ensure justice. Notably, under the new GST slabs, 90 percent of goods have seen rates reduced from 28 percent to 18 percent , while 99 percent of goods have been brought down from 18 percent to 5 percent.

Addressing a press conference in Panipat, Sh. Manohar Lal said the reduced tax rates would boost purchasing power, create new employment opportunities, provide savings for employees and small farmers, and attract greater investment. Education Minister, Sh. Mahipal Dhanda was also present on the occasion.

Sh. Manohar Lal added that the new GST slabs would accelerate industrial growth, enhance production capacity, increase demand for products, and create more employment opportunities for citizens. He said that thanks to the government’s prudent financial management, India has become the world’s fourth-largest economy. To strengthen the domestic economy and provide relief across all sections of society, the government has raised the income tax exemption limit to Rs. 12 lakh per year and reduced GST rates to 5 percent and 18 percent to further benefit the common people.

Haryana to Play Leading Role in Swachh Shehar Jodi Initiative, says CM

Chandigarh, September 27 – Union Minister of Power and Housing and Urban Affairs, Sh. Manohar Lal said that the nation’s cities can be made clean and garbage-free only through unity and the spirit of Antyodaya. He said that Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi’s launch of the Swachh Bharat Mission in 2014 carried forward Mahatma Gandhi’s resolve.

Addressing the launch of the Swachh Shehar Jodi (SSJ) Initiative at the IIT Education City campus in Sonipat on Saturday, Sh. Manohar Lal said the programme aims to foster collaboration between cities to improve urban sanitation.

Chief Minister, Sh.Nayab Singh Saini, speaking on the occasion via video conference from Karnal, said Haryana will play a leading role in this initiative. Five municipal corporations each from Sonipat and Karnal have been paired under the programme. He thanked Union Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal for initiating this collaborative effort to make India’s cities cleaner.

Largest-ever city-twinning structure for urban waste management

The Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Sh. Manohar Lal shared that under the SSJ initiative, 72 mentor cities and around 200 mentee cities have been paired. This is the largest city-twinning framework in the field of urban waste management to date. Cities were selected based on the latest Swachh Survekshan survey, with high-performing cities designated as mentors and those requiring improvement as mentees. Pairings were made based on geographical proximity and performance gaps to ensure practical and relevant knowledge exchange, said Sh. Manohar Lal.

During the national programme, all participating cities signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs), with municipal officers and political representatives present, marking the occasion as historic.

Super Swachh League and structured mentorship to drive urban sanitation

Sh. Manohar Lal highlighted the Ministry’s Super Swachh League (SSL), established to recognize consistent performers in Swachh Survekshan 2022, 2023, and 2024. Top three cities in five population categories have been included in this league and will form the foundation of mentor cities, while mentee cities are drawn from lower-ranked states, ensuring a practical, peer-learning approach.

He added that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs issued official guidelines for the SSJ initiative on August 26, 2025, launching a 100-day action plan. During this period, each city pair will develop joint work plans with clear objectives and milestones, conduct site visits and experiential learning, share successes, address challenges, and lay the foundation for long-term capacity building. The initiative will be evaluated through Swachh Survekshan 2026.

City partnerships in Haryana set to lead collaborative urban governance

As part of the initiative, Karnal and Sonipat municipal corporations signed MoUs to mentor five smaller cities each. Karnal will guide Siwan, Ismailabad, Kalanwali, Narnaund, and Rajound municipalities, while Sonipat will support Pataudi, Farukhnagar, Kundli, Narnaul, and Hodal. The launch in Sonipat marks the beginning of a new era of collaborative urban governance and inter-city mentoring.

During the event, Sh. Manohar Lal also launched a cleanliness song written by Shailendra and sung by Amit Trivedi and Shreya Ghosal.

He also held discussions with Urban Local Bodies Ministers, Sh. Kailash Vijayvargiya (Madhya Pradesh) and Sh.Anil Kumar Sharma (Uttar Pradesh). MLA Rewari, Smt. Krishna Gahlawat, MLA Sonipat, Sh.
